Smashwords - Selling my book online
Smashwords
For those of you who don't know, I'm a starving, struggling, self-published writer! And I've been trying to think up new ways to get readers and fans. I've already got my book 'It's My Mistake' published on Amazon.
Here's the link if you're interested: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0731KDJLZ
But I realised that sales have dried up, I've been lucky that one of my friends has been kind enough to buy, download, read and review it for me, and she actually asked me when I was writing Part 2 (I left the book on a cliffhanger just in case it did well and readers wanted more!)
But someone told me (or I read in a blog) a self-published author get's only 10% of his sales through Amazon, so I decided to reach out somewhere else to get my book sold.
That's when I came across Smashwords.
At first, I put up my book, and the website converts .doc (not a .docx so I found out, and had to convert my .docx into .doc!) into most formats online! It got approved really quickly (matter of minutes it seemed) and within a few hours I got my first sale! Already!
I'm not 100% sure how Smashwords words, I'm still trying to get my head around it, but so far it's paid off reaching out to this website.
Only, one thing I noticed, I got a notification to say that it's not on a 'Catalogue' because of the formatting. After finally finding a sample of my work from the website, I realised that my 'indents' weren't appearing.
So, I spent the whole day yesterday reformatting the book! Getting rid of indents and just adding spacing between paragraphs. And hey-presto! It's finally been premium approved (which I hope means it's on the Catalogue!)
And as you can see, I've already had two sales!

Not trying to be a grammar Nazi, but I just read the first chapter and I noticed a grammatical error. I hope you don't mind me pointing it out.
"....I groaned and stood up from the hard and uncomfortable plastic chair that I was sat on", instead of "sat on", you probably meant to write "sitting on".
I know how one edits and reedits, their drafts to make them sound perfect and sometimes it leads to little errors like this. I just hope you corrected it, in your final draft!
Is it a harlequin type of novel? The first chapter is intriguing... :)
Thank you @fuchsia.ink! :D
Feel free to point them out, how else will I learn. ;)
Luckily for Smashwords and Amazon, you can update them easily!
Awesome! :) Wishing you loads of luck and success!
Thank you!
