Flags of the World #21: Bolivia!

in #writing6 years ago (edited)

Hello fellow Steemians and welcome to my review of the Bolivian flag! This is the 21th flag that I will be covering in my series to cover most of the flags of the world! It has only taken me 4 months to get to the 21st flag, i should probably write faster but procrastination won't let me....

Today's Flag is the Flag of Bolivia!

The flag of Bolivia is a horizontal tricolor of (from top to bottom) red, yellow and green. This flag was adopted on October 31st, 1851.

Bolivia has another flag that represents the country, making Bolivia one of the few countries in the world with dual flags, the Wiphala will be in the other flags section of the post!

Meanings

The red color represents the sacrifice and blood shed by the heroes that founded the republic and those that work for the preservation of the republic

The yellow color represents the rich natural resources of the country and the wealth of the people that inhabit it!

The green color represents all the natural richness of the country and the untapped resources preserved in those regions to protect nature but it also stands for hope which is in their words "A foundational value of their society"

State and War Flag

As many other countries i have previously covered, Bolivia also has a alternate state flag which is not used to represent the nation but the office of the executive power or the "state" as they call it and this is also used as a war flag. Its a tricolor Bolivian flag defaced with the coat of arms of the country on the center.

This flag was used by the short lived Peru-Bolivian Confederation between 1836 and 1839, I'm planning to eventually write a post it so i won't cover much about it here :-D

I have learned from your posts that most of the flags that have red in their color use it to represent blood spilled in creation or unification of their countries :)

Every country that went through a struggle of independence desires to remember their fallen.

Primera entrega de los post de las banderas que veo, pero me ha parecido bastante bueno y nutrido. Creo que los seguiré y leeré los anteriores. Saludos.
