RE: 🐟My Fellow Minnows, You're Not Alone! Don't Give Up • My Unfiltered Thoughts + Awesome Tools + Tips for Steemit Users
I'm already a ghost before I even got started here & it bums me out. I like the platform, I see the long term potential, but it's experiencing growing pains that make the site frustrating to use & a bit like yelling into a void. I think I'll gently lurk & see if I get inspired to publish here, but not force it to happen if I'm not feeling it.
I've got many creative acquaintances that I believe could thrive here, but it's a tough sell to be motivated to invite them when I see folks on Twitter mentioning a 2 week & counting wait on the sign up process & so many people seem AFK behind bots.
Loved your article, despite my Debbie Downer tone. It definitely resonated. It was nice to see a quality 'real person' type post that isn't full of self upvote bot spam.
Hope your day is beautiful. I wish my reply was better, but it is what it is.
The issues lately have been disappointing for me too, but they have mostly been resolved. I sometimes forget that this is a beta. We all do it. This place has no centralized censorship, and I strongly suspect that key strength will always remain true. That specific attribute will make this platform, or an improved version of it perhaps, the future of social media.
At first I did not understand it, but this is a blockchain. Each site that interfaces with the blockchain may have a different webpage address, but the blockchain stays the same. Therefore, other alternative sites like busy.org and others is a good thing. It prevents the site from being shut down by anyone from hackers to governments.
Thank you @largelyuseless, I appreciate that. I think we're on the same page. I tried to get some friends to join and I'm 1 for 5 currently. The sign up process was a barrier for all but one (who doesn't post..smh).
It's refreshing to have a "real person" comment and I think your tone and mine might be aligned.. I am finding more creative people and tools for this platform, so I think it will eventually become easier to establish communities and filter content that you don't want to miss - without autovoting being a necessity. I like the human element involved of voting and I also would love to be able to aggregate certain users and topics in a more 'efficient' way. I miss so much in my feed and there are quite a few ways to fix that. I think we just have to be patient and understand that we must crawl before we walk and this platform is like a clumsy toddler. 😆
We will see what the future brings.
Here's the first honorary award for REAL Humans, @largelyuseless. Your thoughts are appreciated, as well as your time - thank you!
Those are awesome, thank you so much!
I have no doubts it'll be great in the future, but there's some essential changes that'll have to happen & you touched on a few.
I'm happy spinning my wheels while the growing pains happen, I do love the concept, I just don't think I can make it LIFE yet in the way I had hoped to & attract new talent. But it is awesome to find it on here!
Someday I'll probably be crazy obsessed. I do think of article topics non-stop. Thankful to be here learning, ahead of the curve a bit. I like it enough I'd invest big if I could.
I really love those logos by the way. Thank you so much! 😘
I've seen people with 70+ reputations that never authored a post. You don't have to post. You just have to engage. That can easily be done as you have here through quality and thoughtful replies. :)
