30 Days or 30 Posts Commitment

in #writing8 years ago

So continues an exercise. Not in how many vote-ups or how much crypto-currency I can get, but seeing if Steemit might be a good fit for me and what I'd like to do. What I'm willing to do. What I might enjoy doing and feel inspired to do. I'm committing to at least 30 days or 30 posts, like my oil change recommendation, mileage or time, whichever turns out to be the longer duration.

A couple of recent articles I will reference for the heck of it...

#2 Self-Awareness, Voice, Key for Female Empowerment, Study Finds

These are two things that I have recently come across that shore up my feelings that this 30 Days or 30 Posts commitment to writing/creating content is a worthwhile endeavor, regardless of results. My intentions for participation in this platform are in line with some of the reasons given in the above articles.

I have an awareness of and an on-going curiosity about how audience, or even perceived audience, helps shape and summon content. So, I am showing up on a new platform to see what might be inspired in a new space. Two social media tools that I currently use are Facebook and Instagram. I have a pretty conservative approach to privacy on both of those sites.

When I first started Instagram, long after I had been using Facebook, I of course noticed that many of the people I was connected to on the sites were the same. I went about playing with my new camera phone and posting content on Instagram. I have found that though some of the people are the same, the range of content that I am inspired to share differs, and I feel them to be different social experiences.

Obviously, Steemit is going to be a different experience in regards to interaction with a public sphere, but I expect my approach to personal privacy to continue to err on the conservative side. It is my intention to leave room for a natural evolution on this front, as well. I'm definitely anticipating a learning curve as I make posts and learn more about the community, and potentially connect with a community of creative people in meaningful ways.

Thanks for reading this. I welcome comments. I also reserve the right to ignore them. ;)

Perhaps I'll post some pics of mine in the future once I figure out how.

I have to admit to some curiousity. If you aren't posting 30 posts in 30 days, what are you going to do with the days? I think you're leaving yourself wiggle room to not commit. Just my observation.

If I post twice a day and meet the 30 posts requirement, I still have to do 30 days. If I do thirty days, but not 30 posts... I still have to finish the 30 posts. I have to meet both requirements, basically. I hope that clarifies. Thanks for your question which helped me to try to find a way to convey that more clearly.

Ah.. thanks. That makes it a lot clearer. I'm currently engaged in a 30-day challenge. I'm sharing my favourite reads each day for 30-days. I just posted the latest one https://steemit.com/curation/@shadowspub/wednesday-ramble-through-steemit-notes-on-my-favourite-reads-sept-7th

That's a good intention of yours, good luck!
And I always thought that with cars it is whatever comes first, not last, so if by mileage it's due to change oil, you go get your oil changed even if it's not "the date" yet.
