Today is a day for remembering Ash Wednesday and for celebrating Valentines day.
Many Christians will be getting ashes marked on their foreheads with the priest saying "you are dust and to dust you will return" to start the big Lent.
Lent is a good time to remember that in our busyness we forget to think about what our lives mean.... to many this is an solemn reminder and an invitation to begin renewal in your life. Let this Lent become a spring time in your heart.
Valentines is a special day for expressing love with dinner, flowers and chocolates.. many express love to their beloved partners....this day is bursting with expressions of love.....
I thought to myself these 2 days both express love........ that is nice but then I thought what if we lived this invitation for renewal and the love expressed at Valentines every day ...what would our lives be like.? Would we be able to eradicate depression, anger, gossip, envy, and many , many other feelings that are not associated with love....
Maybe we could just try to give a bit of love every day and see if it begins to change our life...

Love is definitely something that should be expressed everyday and not just on special occasions. While observing occasions and their rituals may seen the way to express our feelings... sometimes just finding the pure joy, significance and sincerity behind the event means more. Would I say no to a bouquet of flowers??... possibly if the motivation behind the gift wasn’t made in love. Very good food for thought :)
