Not Nothing. Five Minute Freewrite.
Ever get the feeling that nothing you do or say will change anything? The problem is so big, like climate change, discrimination, or racism and it feels like anything you do has no effect. The polar ice cap keeps melting, and people still hate. It can seem overwhelming, I know. I have found myself wondering “why bother? Nothing I do will make a difference.” Then I remember how often in my own experiences all it took was one person who said or did something that impacted me profoundly: Teachers that have inspired, friends that have persevered, or strangers that have motivated me. These experiences aren’t always positive, uplifting ones either. Sometimes what I have learned is how not to be (mean, spiteful, hateful), and other times I have been inspired by profound humanity. Each of these experiences have been a gift—and that is not nothing.

This is a really great freewrite and account of the prompt! And I totally agree with you!
Thank you.
It's easy to sink in the fog of impotency, but you are so on spot. One person can do so much good who puts their mind and heart to a task. Well spoken!
“ Fog of impotency” describes it so well. Thanks.
Thank you. Quite thought provoking.
This is a fantastic post with a very good lesson! All experiences can teach something and it is so heartening when we come across those who put in the effort to make a difference for the better. Too often people will see something and say, "Not my problem." But those that stop, maybe just lend a hand or at least a moment of their time, are inspiring and make this world so wonderful to be in!
