Multi-languages post on Steemit: Good or Bad idea?

in #writing7 years ago

On Steemit, I saw people from Russia, India or Spain, just to name a few. Most of these posts were written in English, which is logical, as it is the language of the platform.

What if you also wanted to post articles in your native language?
Some people place their translation in the original post, just below the English version. But it is not a good practice.

Let me explain why you should split your posts by languages :

1. SEO and content finding

Using one post for two languages also means using one title for both of them. That will literally kill the visibility of your second version! Because, writting an English title while your article has English and French version will mainly attract English speaking people.

Easy, right?

Remember, the first thing that readers see is... the title.

2. ‎More tags

Creating another post for your additional language lets you use different tags. As every post is limited to 5 tags, you can use up to 10 tags for the same subject. Interesting, isn't it ?

For example, for my first article Hi, Steemit! I am Dimby from France!, I used the following tags tags.

[introduceyourself, food, blog, travel, story]

If I post a French version, I would use other tags that are still linked to my original post. I'd choose :

[fr, introducemyself, introduction, cooking, photos]

Like that, you can spread your message to a larger audience.

3. More engagement

Larger audience also means more engagement. And on Steemit, more engagement means more influence and/or money.

So, to summup

Split articles by language
=> more tags can be used
=> larger audience
=> more engagement
=> more influence and/or money.

That's the key dear steemians ! What do you think about multi-languages posts ?

Nice one I agree with your point of view and also for being just a practical one.

This makes a lot of sense. I've seen posts where the content is translated into English, but your idea seems more beneficial.

Hi,

I think it's a great idea you already see it and my german and Polish friends are also doing it now.

Greetings,

Really good ideas!
I think an option for choosing specific language, or areas and show content on that chosen language or area would be great. :)
