To my young friends
Let us talk about courtesy ..
I will start with a story
A class mate of mine once shared the story of how he was rushing for an appointment ( job interview )and was running late, still in traffic, then rain started, he jumped out of his car with his umbrella, headed towards the interview place, on his way he met a woman, also in the rain, she asked for his help ,almost hesitated but gave her shelter under his umbrella, a conversation ensued and he unconsciously was Courteous etc ..
Later on, as the interview commenced, he saw the same lady was actually the chief interviewer, and infact the visiting overall C.E.O of the multinational firm! Who must have jumped out of her car too for the same interview.
He sure got the job, despite his qualifications ( very meritorious), it appeared the interview ended earlier while under the umbrella.

Moral ...

Courtesy is no ones dislike ,discourtesy is no ones friend ,
Learn to speak politely, disagree politely, refer to others politely .
Too many young folks use the social media to display infantility
They blow chances and opportunities .
It costs NOTHING to be polite, engage with decorous civility even when in a tone of discontent .
Some time back, a fellow met me at our church venue and wanted to see the pastor, then I said why? he replied " please let me see him, I am not interested in seeing any appendage or assistant, " to say the least of things he said . He eventually found out who he had been talking to and now started demonstrating some politeness .
I was put off .
Some who rant on social media are nothing better than poltroons with no discernible steel off it, yet several are job seeking, favour finding, but lack the minimum requisition of decency .
It's poor and sad .
You will blow too many chances with poor communication, cantankerous speech
No minister I train or in my local church is disrespectful, none. I tutor them well,
You can't even be given leadership roles without proper behavior like Courtesy and respect for elders .
I function in the business community, and this counts for much .
Even when I travel overseas, I prostrate for elders, no matter the location .
I once met professor Wole Soyinka at a major airport in the states, I prostrated, made some assistance and of course didn't fail to tell him my alma mata( smiles )

Decency and proper upbringing have no locational limits .
Let me give you a few hints
When commenting on people's walls, put on civility, assume others are older or deserve respect till otherwise proven
Terms like sir and ma are not demeaning or expensive .
Thanks is better than yeah.
There are better terms than hmmm, lol,yea yea ..
Find them .
When chatting inbox learn words like "Good morning sir or ma", thanks etc
Hi? Is quite shallow .
But isn't this because you are African?
True, I can't deny my patrimony, but I can freely tell you no tribe or culture abhors respect .
And for several who are just social media wannabes, I can only pity how much keeping up with the joneses will cost you.
Learn courtesy, respect, decency and decorum .
It's both humane and godly
Hope I made sense
