I'm looking for collaborators!
This episode is to serve as the beginning and as an example of what I envision the "Old Time Radio" segment of my show producing. We will be needing more voice actors, some re-curring, some for single episodes. I'd also like to invite YOU to write a short script for us. They would need be able to be performed in UNDER 10 minutes, or broken up into 5 or 10-minute segments. Go have a listen to some Old Time Radio shows HERE, or just listen to the one below. It won't disappoint. 😎

I didn't wanna go through and put it all in markdown. However, it is MUCH easier to read it in script form. If anyone needs some tips on how to write this way, let me know. I can also share the original script from Google Docs if that's wanted.

In a deep and remote corner of the galaxy, further than any
Earthen Space Man has ever aspired to fly in a rocket-ship,
lies the Space Dessert of Galog-Kerplathicus. Often
described as “The Butthole of the Universe,” its planets are
among the most desolate and unforgiving lands
imaginable. They have sandstorms, ice storms, acid storms
and lava storms, but extremely cheap real estate.
Flegula 7 is the largest planet of the five habitable Kerplathican planets.
In the dingiest slum of its most massive metropolis, known as
Space Dump,

there is a tavern, where in the corner sits alone a beautiful
and mysterious young traveler. She’s
been sitting quietly for a strangely long time,
SOUND EFFECT - SLIME WALK
The disgruntled Flegulan bartender squishes out from behind
the bar and makes his way to her corner booth, leaving a
slight trail of corrosive slime as he squishes.
BARTENDER
Can I get you another space beer or what?
(pause)
Hey lady, I’m talking to you!
SOUND EFFECT - STOP SPACE BAR BACKGROUND
SOUND EFFECT - Duh Duh DUHHHH!
NARRATOR
Will the beautiful and mysterious young traveler order another Space Beer? Find out after this message.
ANNOUNCER

Meanwhile back on Flegula 7...
SPACE CARRIE
I’ve had enough.
BARTENDER
I tell you when you’ve had enough, and you ain’t had enough.
You only had one drink, and that was three space hours ago.
It’s our strict policy not to under serve.
SPACE CARRIE
I’m waiting for someone.
BARTENDER
Look lady, this ain’t the Intergalactic Space Port. Talk about
waiting. I once had to wait 23 space days there to pick up my
wife when she was coming back from her Mary Kay convention.
Unbelievable. Apparently their ship slipped into a rogue
wormhole and it kinda… stretched out time or something. I
don’t know crap about that crap. Hell of an inconvenience.
Lost my job, that’s how I ended up working in this crap hole.
SPACE CARRIE
You have Mary Kay Cosmetics here?
BARTENDER
Oh yeah. For the first few space years they were going by
Space Mary Kay, but after awhile they figured everybody
got it, and they dropped the “space.” But that led to some
mass confusion on a couple of the other planets, badda-bing,
badda-boom, you got the Mary Kay wars. They went on for
five space years. Destructive and bloody as hell, but it
made my wife’s sales go through the roof.
So you want another drink or what?
SPACE CARRIE
Do you have orange juice?
BARTENDER
No way! And you couldn’t afford it if we did. Space
Beer, comin’ up!
SOUND EFFECT - SLIME WALK (short)
NARRATOR
As the bartender begins to squish away, and extraordinarily
sinister-looking man appears in the doorway, sucking the
metaphorical air from the room.
SOUND EFFECT--RECORD SCRATCH, BACKGROUND sounds STOP
SOUND EFFECT - Fade in ACCORDION, SLOW WALK a few steps,
He wears a long coat,
A long beard and an eye patch, quietly surveying the
room as all eyes are transfixed on him. After a time, he speaks.
SPACEBEARD
Take Five, Kevin.
SOUND EFFECT - ACCORDION stops
Kevin’s me minstral. Follows me around, poor fellow.
Playing me merry pirate tunes. He’s the only one I’ve got left.
Clears Throat
One of you is here for me! But I’ve found you first, for
Spacebeard runs from no man. Show yourself, bounty-hunter!
NARRATOR
SOUND EFFECT - EVIL ORGAN (plays under)
It’s true, the sinister-looking man is none other than
Spacebeard, the most infamous and brutal space pirate
in all of Galog-Kerplathicus. An unstoppable criminal with
a huge bounty on his head, but notorious for making
bounty hunters disappear. The Young Traveler in the
corner stands up to face the pirate.
SPACE CARRIE
Then you can still run, because I am no man.
NARRATOR
It’s true. She is no man. This mysterious young
Traveler is none other than Space Carrie,

an extraordinary hero who… not very many people had heard of yet…
SOUND EFFECT - SPACE CARRIE jingle
but soon the tales of her magnificent space deeds would echo
through living rooms across the galaxy.
Space Carrie,

of all the bounty hunters, is up for the challenge of taking
down Spacebeard. She throws back her hood and brandishes
her laser sword. Not a light saber, but a laser sword.
SOUND EFFECT - LIGHT SABER
SPACEBEARD
A Woman! A woman tracks me down, thinks to bring me
In, perhaps to kill me? We’ll see what happens when we
Cross laser swords!
SOUND EFFECT - LIGHT SABER
SPACE CARRIE
The terrible atrocities you’ve committed have condemned
You here today, and you are a fool to underestimate me.
I am Space Carrie!
SOUND EFFECT - SPACE CARRIE jingle
SPACEBEARD
What makes you think you can just put Space at the
beginning of your name? You have to earn that. I mean,
think about what it means. You basically have to be the
quintessential space version of your name, and what have
you done to earn that? I slaughtered millions, even destroyed
a whole planet once, and do you know how hard I have to
work to maintain this magnificent beard? You wouldn’t
understand. Let’s fight to the death.
SOUND EFFECT - DUH DUH DUHHH!
NARRATOR
And fight to the death they shall! But first, this message from our favorite Brand: SteemStar.
ANNOUNCER

I don’t care if I accidentally kill these people, “Space
Carrie”. Do you?

SOUND EFFECT - LIGHT SABER BATTLE
NARRATOR
Spacebeard draws his laser sword and charges at Space
Carrie with surprising speed. The two exchange laser-sword
blows, Space Carrie determined to protect the innocents and
Spacebeard determined to destroy as much as possible.
SPACEBEARD
You never should have come to Flegula 7, little girl. This is
my domain.
SPACE CARRIE
I rarely do things that I should.
NARRATOR
The fight rages on, and after several minutes of intense
and dramatic laser sword dueling-
SOUND EFFECT - STOP - LIGHT SABER BATTLE
Space Carrie’s foot is on the chest of Spacebeard, who is lying stunned,
unconscious on the floor. Miraculously, no one in the
tavern is harmed. Our hero, Space Carrie, has defeated
the infamous space pirate Spacebeard and saved dozens
of innocent lives.
SOUND EFFECT - HOORAY!
SPACE CARRIE
Turn him into the local law. I’m sure he’d want to be
imprisoned in his own “domain”.
SOUND EFFECT - HIP HIP HOORAY - 3 times
NARRATOR
SOUND EFFECT - OUTER SPACE
With justice served and the people safe, Space Carrie
walks out of that little tavern in the slums of Space Dump,
on the planet Flegula 7. Where the other six Flegulas are,
she doesn’t know, but it probably doesn’t matter. She needs
to somehow reach The Office of Interplanetary Justice to
claim her bounty, but she has no ship. How will Space
Carrie ever get out of Flegula, let alone Galog-Kerplathicus?

I absolutely love this! What a great idea. It is a perfect homage to the classic radio shows. My favorite part might be the sound effects, especially the slug trail of the bartender. This is SOOOO hilarious, and so well done! It's like Garrison Keeler hooked up with Pigs In Space and had a baby! I loved it.
I love how everything is prefaced with "space" and I love how the dude walks into the bar and sucks the metaphorical air out of the room, with a fabulous sound effect of the record scratching to a stop. Seriously, you guys must have had so much fun putting this together. Resteeming for good times' sake.

Chris, your voice acting is amazing! I loved all the accents you did, especially the pirate one. And the Bronx one was great. Nice job! Let me know if you guys need help on another project. I'd love to participate. I can probably conjure up a few accents if needed. French, British, Russian, Scottish...I'd need to do some polishing, but could probably hack it. I won 1st place in high school for a play that was strictly Irish. So I can do that one too. That was many years ago....but I think I know how to do it still.

I am on discord throughout the day, most days. Tuesdays are actually pretty good for me. I could do some sound bytes too. I don't know what version you'd like, does mp4 work?
Also, maybe a bit of the script would help, so I know what kind of character to get into. Ooooh, goodie goodie. This could be super fun.
One last thing, I'm PCT. So noon UTC may be tricky, as that would be like 5 am my time, and I have to get kids off to school a couple hours after that. What about 4 or 5 UTC? Is that too late???
Also, have you thought of posting on d.tube or dlive? I know d.tube tends to upvote his regulars (of which I am), and dlive will at least earn you curation from his site.

Personally I wont post on dtube even if it ever HAD completed one single upload of the two or three times Ive tried over the past few months, because 25% beneficiary cut is highway robbery, and then to not even pay for the IPFS nodes with that income, causing all your videos to disappear, completely deleted from the free IPFS servers they try to use which stream terribly here on 100mb cable and never ever ever complete an upload. You video is flat gone in a few weeks, leaving an empty shell of a post unless you edit on day 6 and put in youtube there, is just a waste of my time.
As for live streaming, we simul-stream 24/7 full HQ stereo live hosted video to youtube live, twitch tv, rtmp capable players like VLC or embedded web players, on steemstar.net and audio via the shitty mono/simulated stereo discord voip driver that discord chat rooms provides because people insist on listening to shit quality in discord rather than watch our glorious webcam feeds, on screen information and show supporting stuff like music covers and videos and web pages and all. As far as I know, dlive does not consume our pro grade rtmp backend, so its useless to us for the network.
Anywhooo, come be on the show. If our host deems it acceptable, and let's get this show on the road!

I get the d.tube drama. I don't have any problems with disappearing video links thus far, but I haven't been broadcasting that long. I have had problems with buffering tho. So I automatically include youtube links on all my d.tube posts. I hear a lot of complaints about the 25% tax. I'm at the stage where I still just appreciate the publicity and will take it for what it's worth, but on some level, I guess I'll be grumpy too. At some point I'd like to do a live podcast or something like what the cool kids are doing on youtube and discord. I've seen your show. Some people know how to do it. Others don't. I like yours. You are very articulate, passionate, and entertaining.

I think @carrie is just going to have me do sound bytes for now, and she'll work them in at will. But at some point soon, maybe I can bug you for advice on how to get a good show going? How many people do you simul-stream? I don't really get all of those complexities of linking all the interfaces to one show. It's probably easy, but I've never done it, and my discord channel is in its infancy anyway. As is my youtube channel. Seriously. Still in diapers over here.

Second, I think you might just be about to become the next mrs ex cork. We discussed potential roles for you in a show planning meeting tonight and well, space might get a lot colder when you show up, exie dearest... ;)
Let me see, right now, top of mind, um, I think its 14 or 15 shows now? Pretty much every day of the week we have a couple-few hosts on the air, and run recorded episodic replays in between round the clock, unless the bot takes a dirt nap as it is sometimes prone too. Tech is gonna tech, after all.
As for the rest, I actually am in my chair for the 27th hour since my last 3 or 4 hour sleep and I actually think I never actually ate anything at all today. Cant even remember. Every day is like this for me, running all the international ops I run for work and here on steem 24/7... point being yes, id love to get you hosting on steemstar. then the tech is largely handled for you. As long as you can run Open Broadcast Server (OBS) on your laptop or computer, we can televise you.
But one step at a time. We've got soundbites to make! I got my next episode script tonight. You aren't in it yet, but I think you arrive in episode 3. We'll see, so don't change that channel, and stay tuned!
