Hello steemians, here's a little write up about proposing I thing would help save some relationships, or give a little insight at the very least. Enjoy.
The meal was delicious, Tola said. Gbenga smiled and nodded knowingly as he drank the last of his orange juice. He too had not been disappointed. Guess this would now be included in their list of suitable restaurants. The atmosphere was quite serene and the A.c. kept the room at a cool temperature, little bits of conversation echoed off the T.v as he watched distractedly. The other occupants of the small restaurant were too busy enjoying their meals to pay attention to them. He turned to look at Tola once again, she had this mischievous smile on her face, he knew her and her pranks and he just wondered what she was up to this time. Today marked the third year of their relationship and he had not once regretted his decision to ask her out on that sunny Wednesday afternoon when he did. Theirs was a friendship at first which later blossomed into a relationship and somehow they had grown in sync with one another and he loved her dearly.. She searched her bag intently, and then gently stood up. He arched his brow wondering what she was doing. Then ever so gently, she began to kneel. He caught a glimpse of what was in her hand and a confused look suddenly came upon his face. Tola gulped her biggest breath and said the words that had begun echoing in his mind.. Gbenga, will you marry me? The smile on her face looked nervous but it soon disappeared and he was sure it was the bewildered look on his face that pursued it away. His heart raced, no no no.. He thought. Why Tola? His mind began to flash back at two recent news update he had read on his facebook account just some few weeks ago about ladies who proposed to their
guys and hehad been a bit unsettled by the articles. He had even seen a video of the same scenario and how the guy behaved and left the girl ridiculed right in public glare. He shivered as he thought of the same think happening to Tola, but here he was being faced with the same dilemma. He drifted back to his present reality, Tola was still on her knees and he saw two of the guests laughing mockingly and pointing fingers in their direction, he knew he had to act fast. He loved Tola, and he had even toyed with the idea of asking her to marry him.. But he never envisaged it happening this way. Sincerely, he was a bit hurt that she had done this and he realized it was his pride that was hurt. He knew he had to handle the situation as maturedly and as sincerely as possible. He smiled gently, as he took her hands, She was shivering slightly and he guessed it was not the cold.

He raised her to her feet and hugged her. Her face hung down in certain embarrassment. It had taken all the courage in her to do it and face whatever came out of it. You didn't reply me, Tola mumbled into his shirt. He knew she could feel him chuckling. He made her seat down gently and squatted beside her. Looking into her eyes, he began to bare his heart to her as gently as he could. Tola, her lifted her chin as she had again lowered her gaze to the ground, Tola, he called her again, she looked at him and gave a weak smile, I truly appreciate what you did and I know it took a lot of courage for you to do that. I love you and I need you to know that. Call me crazy and traditional and old fashioned, but its my belief that every gentleman ought to go down on one knee and ask the woman he loves to spend the rest of her life with him and I hope to do that too soon in the near future, Gbenga said. He watctched her slowly release her breathe and he ralised she had been holding it for some seconds. A smile slowly spread on her lips and he knew she felt better. He was glad. Tola turned to the table and gulped down her remaining glass of water as Gbenga stood up and walked over to the counter to pay their bill. He realised his pulse had been racing too and he wondered why he was nervous. Once he came back to thier table, he took her hand and gently pulled her up anf they walked out hand in hand. Oh and Tola, Gbenga said, in answer to your question, yes i will marry you on one condition. Now Tola arched her brows wondering what the condition was, I would have to be the one doing the asking. Tola burst out laughing, she shook her head at him and punched him playfully in his arm, her nervous feeling completely gone now, she beamed,Thank you Gbenga and i love you too.
Hope you enjoyed this.
