I AM WRITING FOR MYSELF AND STRANGERS
I am writing for myself and strangers.
Gertrude Stein
Indeed I do.
Writing as self-medicine has been recognized by many. But few accept they write for strangers. Or, when they implicitly do, they speak of "readers" in the most likely capacity of educated persons capable of recognizing, at fist glance, the intellectual caliber of the author and his rightful place in the Pantheon.
Strangers.
You know them as persons who are unpredictable because you share with them nothing. Unpredictability isn't a state we accept without fear. And fear drives so much in our lives that we rarely wish to admit it.
Do begin writing for strangers, not readers. Your fears might emerge as the fuse you never thought you had.
