Solitude

Shackles of life
Flood my mind
In solitude rains my tears
In pain I dream my dreams
Of fantasies lost

Never what is fantasize
Never what is desired

Shackles of life
Chains our desire
Like in a quagmire we swim unwittingly
In the dirt of life
We walk dazzlingly

Never what is fantasize
Never what is desired

Creeping dazzlingly
Insurgency is our daily manner
Filthiness fills the air
Pains have become our daily manna
Tears is our lunch

Never what is fantasize
Never what is desired

Oh… regret and grief is a dinner
And sorrow is our brunch
To we the hapless masses, the people
Who finds ourselves in the
Hamlet of 9ja.

The poet has provided daring images which challenged African contemporary society (Nigeria) and how deteriorating it has become especially for its youths. It is obvious that the position of the speaker is with the hapless citizens who have been confined within the precinct of quagmire. The total ambience stench acridly with hopelessness paraded by each citizens. The state of the nation is proliferated by the elite political class who gains from sabotaging the strength and aspirations of the youths thereby siphoning the future of the nation to their own gains.
