Getting into Tolkien's Universe-Middle Earth : Part #2 Who (What) is Valar? ep.1

In my previous writing i talked about the creation of Arda. We are going to dig some more now.. Its time to talk about Valar.

In this wiriting I am going to talk about 4 Valar who worked much more while Arda being created.

Who (What) is Valar?

Eru created Ainur in Timeless Halls with secret fire. Each Ainur have unique powers and forces. After that by the command of Eru, Ainur started to make Ainulindalë (Music of the Ainur). When Ainulindalë was done, Eru placed secret fire in the center of Ainulindalë and completed the creation of Arda.

Eru offered Ainur to go and continue their creation on Arda. Most of Ainur decided to stay with Eru in Timeless Halls but some Ainur decided to go Arda. 15 of Ainur were more powerfull than the others. These ones called Valar except one; Melkor.

They never need a body for themselves but to be a part of Arda, they shaped as childs of Eru; Elves and Men. To their basic acts, they separated as man and woman. They got married but none of them have powers to make child.

Manwe

Manwe was the most mighty in them and Eru's favorite. While Ainulindalë was being created Manwe had thought about wind, air, clouds and flying creatures. He have massive power on them. Arda was entrusted to him. He known as the king of Arda. He was the head of Valar. He set his house on the highest peak of Arda-Taniquetil. With his eyes he may see nearly most of Arda. But he may not able to see all land. To see all over the Arda he used his gigantic eagles.

But Manwe did not know what evil is. So he can't undertand how evil works. Bad things came to the world because of this.

Varda

Varda is Manwe's wife. She is the most beautiful in them. She has light of Eru upon her face. Varda lives in Taniquetil with her husband Manwe. As Manwe may see far far away from Taniquetil, she may hear far far away from Taniquetil too.

But Varda's most loved one is light. When Valar created Illuin and Ormal (the Two Lamps) she filled this lamps with light. She created stars from Telperion's seed and placed to the sky. When she placed stars to the sky, Elves woke up. Thats why Elves likes Varda mostly. When trees destroyed by Melkor, she created sun and moon with the remnants of them.

Aulë

Aulë has a great share in the creation of Arda. While Ainulindalë was being created Aulë had thought about rocks, lands, mountains and precious ores so he is highly skilled with them. He known as the master of all craftsmen. His greatest works are; Illuin and Ormal (the Two Lamps) and bearer of sun and moon.

He loves creating things with his bare hands. Thats why he couldn't wait child of Eru's appear, and he created dwarves.

Ulmo

While Ainulindalë was being created Ulmo had thought about water, seas and oceans. All things includes waters controlled by Ulmo even Melkor have effects on it. He's the most sensitive one about music. Rumors said that Ainulindalë still echos in seas. Because of that Elves loves seas. Ulmo and Manwe are close friends but Ulmo rarely comes to land. He lives alone.
