STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES
The world is moving fast. Everyone around us is running. Everything around is chaotic. We are all very busy. But very busy doing what? We all know what to do at a particular moment but very often we get so busy doing something that we forget why we were doing it. We get so much puzzled in our short term aims that we forget our main aim, the main cause for which we work day and night, while achieving these smaller aims.
Let me present it to you in a simpler way. Suppose there is a man whose main aim is to keep his wife and family happy. He gets up early in morning. He gets ready very fast. Sacrifices all his wishes and leaves for work early. He works hard all day comes back home late at night still thinking about how he can perform his job even better the next day. He works very hard, earns a lot, fulfills all the needs of his wife, buys his children the finest clothes and the latest video games. Sends them to the best schools. By doing it all he accomplishes many short term aims. But in the whole process is he able to achieve his main target? Is he able to make his wife and children happy, his aim was not the video games, his aim was their happiness but in the process he got so puzzled that he forgot his main aim. He might at the end of 20 years after continuing this process achieve happiness but is it worth it. I bet it would have had made more sense if along with the process he would have also focused on their happiness since that’s what his aim was.
We all have one basic aim. We all live for some cause but we all do get puzzled. Keep in mind your aim. Don’t be so busy collecting fruits that you die before eating them. I am not saying don’t prepare for future all I am saying is that every weekend make sure that you smell all the roses you have collected because their odour is actually your main aim and not the number of roses you gather. If one rose can fulfill your need why waste your time on plucking a thousand.
Many times people say ‘I`ll work hard now and enjoy later’. I am not saying that it’s wrong all I am saying is enjoy the hard work you are doing. Don’t be so busy doing hard work that you simply forgot the reason as to why you were doing that hard work.
