Buhari: A man of double standard
I have tried in all its possible means to evaluate the equilibrium nature of President Muhammadu Buhari's sense of equity and fairness in discharging his protective and administrative duties as the Commander in-Chief of the Federal Armed Forces; the recalling answer to this evaluation has always shown a total slack in anyway.
Elected and sworn in on 29th May of 2015, Buhari said that he "belongs to no one and to everyone." Much sad enough, barely non of his policies and style of execution depicts so. A bunch of inequality and a huge show of the fact that Buhari belongs to not all, but to some!!!
A SMELL OF DOUBLE STANDARDS is what I perceive in this administration that almost all Nigerians are crying and praying to see it come to an end. Loss of confidence, sense of non-belonging, fear of attacks, and hatred of the other has been on the increase since the inception of this administration; Buhari with his body language gave room to all these.
Just some months ago, a President who claims to belong to everybody sent the full force of Nigeria Armed Forces to South East to exhibit the python dance steps against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), at which various atrocities where OFFICIALLY committed by the Army; endorsed by the President himself, and finally crowned the actions with the proscription of the Segregationists group as a terrorist group.
Nevertheless, before the upsurge of the IPOB, the President's "clans men" under the title of Fulani herds men, have been terrorizing some parts of Enugu State. They massacred many and left many farm lands in mess. They have attacked and continued to attack even until the New Year day and second day of the year, in what I call Ethnic cleansing. Killing and wasting the blood of over 80 people just in the wake of a day as New Year gift to Nigerians, (who knows what will happen as the year goes by) yet we have a President that belongs to nobody and to everybody. Many have waited and listened to hear a nailing statement of the President against these Terrorists. What a smell of double standards!!!
We are tired of complaining about the glaring sight of inequality and injustice in appointments and positioning of governmental and parastatal Chiefs. "Over" favoritism of the North against the East and South is just the theme of Buhari's government. All we are begging of Mr. President is to just tell us that he still has a heart of human being created by God.
Finally, confidence in him has long ago been lost. Faith in his government is a faith wasted. Incompetent to the core, is what I call a Man who sits as both the President and the minister of Petroleum, yet Nigerians celebrated the worst Christmas as a result of fuel scarcity. Listening to his new year message, where he was blaming some so called Forces that worked to make fuel scars is a failure of double standards, first as the President and secondly as the minister in charge of Petroleum.
I wonder if there is any hope for Buhari to restore his image and confidence of the Nigeria People. If there is any, it would be to use the few months left for him as the President to at least prove one or two points to us, because second term is very slim.
Thanks @africanchild for your post.
