WCW Superbrawl VII Championship Matches

WCW Superbrawl 1997 took place today in 1997 in the Cow Palace located in San Fancisco California. 13k+ fans were in attendance several championship belts were on the line this night.

The first championship bout to take place was the WCW Cruiserweight match between champion Dean Malenko and Syxx. The title did change hands as Syxx was able to get the pin on the "Man of 1,000 Holds".

The next title bout was for the WCW World Television title featuring Rey Mysterio challenging Prince Iaukea. The future WWE superstar would come up short this night as the Prince would retain.

The third title match of the night saw current All Elite Wrestling "Le Champion" Chris Jericho taking on Eddy Guerrero (R.I.P.) who held the WCW United States Title. The man that four years later would unify the World Championship and the WWE Championship was unable to win gold this night.

The second to last title match of the night featured the WCW World Tag Team Titles, held by Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Lex Luger teaming up with The Giant (later to be known as Big Show) as a team were able to take down the "Outsiders".

Finally, the match that WCW was clearly trying to capitalize off of the first Wrestlemania main event saw a rematch between "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper for the WCW World Heavyweight title. Hogan would retain the championship and, in his mind, solidifying him being the better of the two men.
