McIntyre Bests Lesnar On Night 2

Night 2 proved to be a very interesting night at WrestleMania. First off, I must start with the ending as Drew McIntyre finally realized his dream of becoming the WWE Champion after a series of Claymore Kicks allowed McIntyre to gain a pinfall over Lesnar. While this was a quick match, Lesnar was able to utilize a series of F5s before the Scottish Psychopath turned things around. It was also refreshing to see a real wrestling match after the Firefly Funhouse Match.

I do think that the Firefly Funhouse segment between John Cena and Bray Wyatt was entertaining, but I was taken by surprise by the lack of wrestling in the match after seeing how well the Boneyard Match went the night before. When all was said and done, I absolutely enjoyed the trip down memory lane with both superstars, including Cena's Doctor of Thuganomics. From a storytelling aspect, it hit the mark with The Fiend putting the punctuation mark on the tale.

Bayley had to defend her title in a 5-way Elimination Match against Sasha Banks, Lacey Evans, Tamina and Naomi. The funniest moment came when Tamina was pinned by all of the other 4 competitors. A misstep by Bayley made it seem like she was going to come to blows with Sasha, but the friendship remained in tack (or did it?) for now as Sasha assisted in Bayley's win even though a strong right punch by Evans eliminated Banks.

The Street Profits defeated Angel Garza and Austin Theory in a very athletic match. Edge knocked off Randy Orton in the Last Man Standing Match, which was filled with emotional ups and downs. By the way, there is no crying in wrestling! I just had to include that. The only downside of this match, which basically gave us a tour of the Performance Center, was the length. Numerous times I thought the match was over, then someone got up!

Sonya Deville came out to the ring with Dolph Ziggler for the match that was initially caused by Ziggler rubbing Mandy Rose in the face of Otis after ruining the perfect Valentine's Day date set up by Otis between him and Rose. At a recent Smackdown, it was revealed that Deville was responsible for ruining the date. Trying to exact his revenge, with the Caterpillar move included, the efforts by Otis were thwarted by the interference of Deville and a low blow by Ziggler. Not wanting things to end this way, Rose ran out to the ring and implemented her own low blow to Ziggler, giving Otis the opportunity for the pin.

Aleister Black was able to gain a pinfall over Bobby Lashley despite the former ECW Champion having the Ravishing Russian Lana in his corner. It was Lana's ill-advised recommendation to spear Black that did Lashley in. Black is one of the best strikers in the ring.

Rhea Ripley had the NXT Women's Championship literally ripped away from her by Charlotte Flair in a very hard-fought match. Ripley has nothing to be ashamed of because she went toe-to-toe with the Queen. The only drawback to this match was that there was no live audience to appreciate the clinic both of these superstars put on. Ripley sold her knee pain like a veteran! Oh yes, let's not forget to mention that the host Rob Gronkowski got revenge on Mojo Rawley for denying him the opportunity to grab the 24/7 title. Gronk now has gold around his waist as he embarks on his new venture.
