God could no longer visit and longer visited Adam like he used to during the early days of their relationship.

He sarounded the tree of life with a sword flaming fire to protect man from living with eternal sin .

Genesis 3:24

(24)After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

He had to cast Adam out from the comfort of the garden.

The same way sin separates us from the warmth of our living God is the same way worship attracts us to himself.
