Stretching Legs in An Age
Because of increasing cases of COVID 19 and death related to it, Nepal Government imposed lock down few weeks back forcing us to stay inside home.
Staying inside was fun for a while but once the routine became monotonous- waking up, making food, eating, cleaning, working from home, making food, eating and sleeping, I felt like I was losing my mind.
So, last Saturday we decided to go for a short hike in the community forest that is nearby our house. We started on the pitched road and passed through the small village with gravelled road to reach the forest. The forest starts from the foot of the small hill that stretch far enough to connect to one of the national parks of Nepal.
When we started our journey, we didn't have any destination. We just wanted to wander between the greens inhaling the fresh ear it provided. Our target was to walk until we were tired enough to rest.
We climbed the steep uphill for 15 minutes and reached on the top here the cool breezes slaps our cheeks providing the bird-eye view of the city. At that place were the Buddhist flag attached to trees praying that the ancestors of those who hung those flags live in peace. The rainbow coloured flags were soothing to eyes adding colours to the green backdrop created by trees.
We rested there for a while and started on the straight green pathway full of flowers, insects and trees trunk. On the way, we also met the people grazing goats. The tranquil environment there was enough the arise in us the feeling of accomplishment. The more we moved deep in the forest, the more we realized we did good thing in deciding to come to the forest. Had we not been here, we would have been on our bed sleeping the whole day.
It was after to hours of walk, we decided to stop for the day mainly because our Husky was tired. We found a place were the dog could drink water and we could find shade. We took out all the junks we bought to eat and rested there for a while. We took selfies and portraits, talked about mundane things in life and where necessary, just listened to the music of the nature.
Two hours before the sunset, we started out journey back home happy and satisfied. Afterall stretching legs once in a while and losing yourself in the nature is one of the important self care therapy.
