Maui wildfires death toll rises as some residents return to Lahaina

At least 67 people have died in the raging wildfires that torched the Hawaiian island of Maui – and officials expect the toll to rise. "Without a doubt, there will be more fatalities,” Gov. Josh Green said Friday. Additionally, US Health and Human Services declared a public health emergency in Hawaii.
Residents of the hard-hit town of Lahaina were allowed to return to their homes today. Although Green cautioned: "They will see destruction like they’ve not ever seen in their lives."
The governor told CNN he's ordered a comprehensive review of the state's actions in the hours after the fires broke out, including why warning sirens were not used to alert residents on Maui.
