Today's Country is: Iran

Where:

Iran is a country located in the Middle East, which is part of Asia. 

Geographical Features:

It has numerous geographical features with Dasht-e Kavir desert, the multiple mountain ranges including the Alborz and the Zagros mountain ranges, some rivers including the Karun, and some lush green land to the north. 

Type of Government:

Iran is currently a Theocracy, which means it is led by a religious leader, which the religion is Islam. The country also contains a parliament, which consists to a total number of 290 people.

Cities:

The capital city of Iran is Tehran with a total population of  7,153,309  citizens, which is also the biggest city. It also has other big cities such as Mashhad with a total population of  2,307,177  and Isfahan with a total population of  1,547,164.

Population:

The current population of Iran is 80.28 million people, making it the 18th largest country population wise. Its population growth 1.2% per year, which is 0.5% ahead of the USA.

Poverty:

Iran's poverty line is not very simple. Some sources say it is at 20% and some even say it is at 55%. Which is still more than the USA's 14.5% below poverty line.

Religions:

The main religion is Shi'a Islam, which holds 99.4% of the population. The other 0.6% is non-Islam religions.

Languages:

Iran's official language is Persian, which 53% of the population speaks. Other languages in Iran is the Turkic dialect with 18% of people speak and Kurdish with 10% of people speak.

Economic:

Iran's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is 393.4 billion USD and is on a downward spiral. Their national debt is about 270.7 billion USD. It is 68% of their GDP and is rising rapidly.

Economic Output:

The major economic output of Iran is the Petroleum industry, which gives them most of their GDP.

Major Imported Goods:

Major imported goods from other countries to Iran is machines, metals, vegetables, chemical, and transportation. 

Major Exported Goods:

Major exported goods from Iran to other countries is of course, the petroleum industry. Which they output 2.6 million barrels of crude oil a day.

Problems Facing the Country:

Iran is facing many problems today. Some problems are the heavy sanctions facing Iran from the USA and the EU, their economy which is on a downward spiral, and their terrible USA relations.
