the syndrome of third world

Recently, I had the opportunity to read a very interesting post about whether the "First World" was real or just a fallacy created by precisely the world powers to generate a kind of "psycho-terror" to the countries with less possibilities of such so that they do not "dare" to develop. In the same way, keep those nations at bay.

I must first clarify that I will not issue opinions with respect to the above, since in any case it is a fact that, whether for ideological or economic reasons, there are countries with greater potential to develop each of their resources than others. Beyond that, I consider it even more important to make a deep analysis about the so-called "Third World Syndrome", a term you can investigate and you will realize that there is not a lot of information about it.

Basically, the third world syndrome is used to describe a kind of fear of development on the part of the inhabitants, or part of it, of a "third world" nation. I quote: "They are that set of symptoms, based on ideological superstitions, that prevent that country (as with all of Latin America) from finally becoming a first world nation."

In this way they cite an endless number of web pages referring mainly to the presidential elections in Chile in December 2017. The reason? According to specialists, the southern country will soon become the first nation in South America to achieve such a "status" or we could call this "honorable mention".

And is that according to the information to which most of us have access, the first world is represented only by the United States (how could it be otherwise), Britain and its allies. In that way, China, Russia and other powers would be excluded from that list.

Already in a third step we find the so-called "non-aligned countries", a completely subjective concept and, to my mind, too ambiguous, even more so when the question arises, not aligned to what, or, failing that, to whom?

Obviously the answer to that question depends on who answers it. However, the biggest question here is the question of whether there is such a syndrome and, if it exists, is the main reason why our Latin American nations have stayed away throughout the decades of the economic and social development of the large World powers?

And, in part, yes. If we look at the past we can realize that each of the so-called global "powers" are not such without first going through dark and traumatic periods in their history. Thus, for example, the Second World War served as a springboard for the countries involved in it to completely change their way of thinking, and with it, their actions with respect to various situations.

In that way, they managed to reach goals until they became what they are today. The opposite happens in most of our Latin American countries, where resources abound and tragedies are scarce if we compare them with our neighbors on the planet.

However, maintaining this type of living conditions for so long (years, decades, even centuries) creates a completely different and not very innovative thinking in terms of breaking economic, social, political and even cultural paradigms; something that the forces of the "First World" were forced to carry out.

Religious, cultural, political, social, moral and even geographical factors have shaped our thinking over the centuries, I refer to us as those considered today as "third world" countries. This, perhaps, has created an inferiority complex with respect to the world powers. Complex acquired or not, complex molded, complex developed, but complex at the end. And, more importantly, complex to which the term of syndrome has been given, "third world syndrome".

In conclusion, the syndrome of third worldism is real, not perhaps as a "fear of success" or "fear of development" as most experts agree, but rather as a disorder of little or almost no desire for self-improvement; no longer the product of a fear, but of an inferiority complex previously exposed in which one no longer believes that "I am afraid to do it" or "What if I try and fail?", but rather as a blunt "I can not "...
