Earthquake off the coast of Ecuador
An earthquake of magnitude 6 occurred on Friday under the seabed off the coast of central Ecuador, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported. The Ecuadorian authorities said no major losses were recorded, and there were no tsunamis.
According to the USGS, the epicenter of the shock was located 88.5 km northwest of Portoviejo, 10 km deep below the Pacific Ocean.
The Ecuadorian coast is part of the so- A "fiery circle" surrounding the Pacific Ocean, where earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are frequent.
In April last year, a devastating earthquake off the coast of the country killed more than 650 people.
