Tiny set for a tiny home

in #woodworking7 years ago

A few years ago, my friends built a tiny house on wheels. I knew that space was a consideration when making them a housewarming gift, so I made them this tiny set that they could hang on their wall.

First I cut a few "perfect" rift sawn boards from a storm fallen cherry tree, using biodegradable vegetable based bar and chain oil. This straightens the grains, and if you look closely, you can follow the grain in a straight line from end to end of the pieces. Any piece that comes from a board such as this has a kind of iridescent sheen... They really glow. They will never warp, crack, or anything like that, and should stand the test of time.

I took the opportunity to invent a few new tools. The one on the left, I called the pan-sickle for the edges of a frying pan. The middle one I called the sippin spoon, as it has a spout on the side to taste sauces. The one on the right is just a tiny spatch.

Then I made the mount, which turned out really cool, and has inspired me to make lots of things with hooks like that since.

not bad for a chainsaw....

Rustic modern future antique chainsawed furnishings :)

Thank you, and enjoy!

Nice . I like the way you chose the grain.

Thank you! It's really easy.... anything you make out of a rift sawn board comes out awesome. I like to Incorporate that line into the things that I carve as well.
