RE: Understanding Woodland Management
Good job
To understand Woodland Management, First we need to find out what types of woodlands there are.
Types of Woodlands include:
Ancient Woodland - These have existed continuously since 1600 AD in England and Wales and 1750 in Scotland
Semi Natural Woodland - Consists primarily of locally native tree species.
Ancient Semi Woodland - A natural woodland.
New Native Woodland - A recently established woodland, often planted as part of a scheme.
Pasture Woodland - Historic management methods combined of trees and with areas of grazing for animals.
Coppiced Woodland - A historical management method which is making a comeback in recent years as a renewable energy source for bio stoves/burners. Biomass fuel can be harvested from coppiced trees.
