Celebrating International Women's Day in Bangladesh
The International Women's Day 2018 has been celebrated by lighting candles at the central Shaheed Minar at the University of Dhaka on the first day of the 8th morning of 'Sloganeering in the Time, to change the life of women'. Women's Torture Alliance 'Amari Kai' and Dhaka University jointly organized this event.
State Minister for Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki was the chief guest at the program. Among others, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Akhtaruzzaman, human rights activist Sultana Kamal also said.
State Minister Meher Afroz Chumki said, "Bangladesh's biggest achievement we are taking the leadership of Bangabandhu daughter. We have to admit that when the daughter of Bangabandhu gets the chance to serve the people, the development of women will be done. Women are advancing in each case step by step.
The State Minister said, "I am a woman, but I am a person who is a bigger person. And women are protesting to recognize the identity of the people. As far as not saying, women's economic freedom, education of women till we can achieve so many goals will take time to meet us.
Human rights activist Sultana Kamal said women in Bangladesh are much ahead. But statistics show that 92 percent of women are tortured in public transportation. We must come out of this place. The state will not just say that we believe in women's rights, we want to see its reality.
