When the Dutch were angry with Teuku Umar because they thought Teuku Umar had betrayed them, the anger made the Netherlands launch a massive operation to capture Cut Nyak Dien and Teuku Umar both alive and dead.
The resistance from the Acehnese side increased as it was equipped with equipment and weapons taken from the Netherlands, at that time the Dutch were in turmoil because of the large number of their troops who were killed and they constantly replaced the General, culminating in the resistance of the Acehnese because of the sheer number of equipment.

The Dutch reneged on the promise of separating Cut Nyak Dien from his homeland and the people of Aceh, after the death of Cut Nyak Dien the struggle continued until Indonesia became independent.
