Woman Power -International Women's Day: The power of little girls.

International Women’s Day is a powerful day of sharing awareness and the celebration of how far we have come, where we stand today and how we will continue to move forward.

We need to celebrate ourselves and other women everyday, to keep that awareness and channels always open for little girls watching. Today we need to be extra loud.

Because lets face it, all the little girls are watching all the time.

I remember being inspired as young at 3 or 4 years of age by strong women, but even more so, I remember how far fetched and nearly impossible it felt to become a strong, grounded significant woman because, really, I wasn’t that common to see.

Even though I longed to step into that power, I knew it would be challenging and to be honest, throughout my life, I was never inspired quite enough or able to find the permission to try.

Until recently, in my 30's, when I was faced with lots of hardship, did I realize that it was up to me to give myself permission. That I was 100% responsible for my life and the decisions I made along the way.

After some soul searching and getting real with myself, I did realize that I longed to be more, that I did have it in me and I was enough. I started to fill a void that I carried around too long.

What we really need to be portraying, and the message that needs to be loud and clear is our own unique power that lies within. Empowerment comes from he freedom to choose and be who we are inspired to be.

Whatever that looks like, it doesn’t need to be defined. It needs to stay free of judgment and measurements.

We need to set a stage where little girls can actually see themselves in us. Owning our flaws and failures and honouring our unique desires.

That EVERYTHING goes. There is no special box to fit it. That authenticity IS the path to empowerment.

And yeah, sure, there are challenges in society, and we could say “easier said than done”, but if we truly want to play a part of influence for young girls, we need to face the fear and do it anyway. It lies within our own commitment to self-love and our OWN permission to be who we truly are.

The truth of the matter is, women rock, and we are a rich, rich contribution to society. Lets make sure young girls everywhere know they are more than enough and when they step into that power within, especially collectively, look out!
