Introducing Myself as a Witness Candidate: 15 Years of C++ Experience, Blockchain Enthusiast, and Steem Believer

Hey, Steemit Community!

I’m thrilled to throw my (virtual) hat in the ring as a Witness candidate for the Steem blockchain. While I prefer to remain anonymous, sometimes it’s good to keep a little mystery in life, I can tell you that I’ve been around the block(chain) a few times. I’m 42, from the good old USA, and my journey in tech has taken me to some pretty cool places, including face-to-face meetings with the likes of Ned Scott and even Justin Sun (yes, those famous guys!).

My Tech Background: C++ Veteran with Blockchain Battle Scars

I’ve been coding in C++ for over 15 years. That’s right—when I started, half the world was still figuring out how to upgrade from Windows XP, and smartphones were a new concept. I’ve been deeply involved in backend systems that require speed, stability, and security, all of which are essential to running a solid witness node.

On the blockchain front, I had the privilege of working directly on BitShares, a project that pioneered decentralized exchanges before they were cool. My contributions helped strengthen the foundation that many crypto enthusiasts rely on today, and yes, I’ve also gotten my hands dirty with smart contracts. I’ve broken them, fixed them, and even made a few sing!

A Techie with a Sense of Humor? No way?!

Now, I know what you’re thinking—"Techie? Anonymous? Must be a serious guy." Well, let me assure you, I’ve had my fair share of not-so-serious moments. Like the time I managed to accidentally reboot an entire data-server in a famous company. Ok well that was fun. Or the time I was deep into debugging blockchain code at 3 AM, only to realize the "bug" was a misplaced semicolon. Let’s just say, caffeine was consumed, and lessons were learned.

And speaking of adventures, did I mention I’ve actually met both Ned Scott and Justin Sun? It’s true! I’ll spare you the details, but let’s just say, I know a thing or two about the minds behind Steem, and those encounters only fueled my passion for this blockchain.

Why Should You Vote for Me?

So, why should you vote for an anonymous guy who’s good with C++ and once met some crypto bigwigs? Because I’m here to make a difference! I bring a unique blend of technical know-how, blockchain experience, and good old-fashioned problem-solving skills to the table. Here’s what you can expect from me:

  • Technical Mastery: My 15 years of C++ experience and work on BitShares give me the chops to run a witness node you can rely on.
  • Smart Contract Expertise: I’ve worked with smart contracts extensively—building, auditing, and enhancing their functionality.
  • Strong Infrastructure: I will run a secure, highly optimized witness node with robust server specs, designed to keep the Steem blockchain ticking smoothly 24/7.
  • Transparency: While I prefer to keep my identity private, I believe in being completely transparent about what I’m doing for the Steem community. Expect regular updates and insights from me on Steemit!

My Vision for Steem: Stability, Security, and Growth

Steem has come a long way, but there’s so much more we can achieve. As a witness, I’m committed to supporting innovations that make the blockchain more scalable, secure, and decentralized. I want to see more dApps, more users, and more developers building on this awesome platform. And most of all, I want Steem to remain a fun and engaging place where everyone feels they can contribute.

I believe in the power of community-driven governance, and I’m here to ensure that Steem continues to evolve as a leader in decentralized social media.

SteemPet: your digital companion on Steem blockchain.

I’m excited to announce my upcoming DApp, "SteemPet", a blockchain-based virtual pet game where you raise, train, and even vote on the quirks of your digital companions! Think of it as a blend of nostalgia from the Tamagotchi days with the power of the Steem blockchain. Each SteemPet is unique, minted as an NFT, and can be customized with accessories earned through interactions on the platform. But here’s the twist—your SteemPet's mood and abilities are influenced by community votes, so if the crowd decides your pet is having a "grumpy day," it might refuse to cooperate! Whether your SteemPet turns into a genius coder or an unapologetic couch potato depends on your interactions and the will of the community. You can even enter your SteemPet in hilarious competitions like "Fastest Napper" or "Most Relatable Meltdown." Get ready to raise a pet powered by blockchain and chaos!

Let’s Build the Future of Steem Together!

If you believe in my technical skills, my (quirky) sense of humor, SteemPet, and my dedication to making Steem even better, I’d be honored to earn your vote as a Steem Witness. By voting for me, you’re supporting someone who brings a mix of technical excellence, passion for decentralization, and a healthy dose of fun.

Let’s keep Steem strong and decentralized together! And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even reveal my identity... or maybe not 😉

Thank you, and may your posts always trend!

Hi, your post sounds like a fairy tale that I really want to believe 🙂. I am willing to support anyone who is truly working for the good of Steem. But let me ask you a few questions.

Why did you pay attention to Steem? I understand that this blockchain has a lot of potential, but people usually get involved in new projects that have hype ahead of them. With your development experience in blockchain projects, why Steem?

Are you planning to invest anything in STEEM? In fact, this is not my business, but a simple human curiosity. You have the right not to answer.

I would love to play some game based on Steem blockchain, Sso I'm looking forward to SteemPets. Will SteemPet have the now popular play to earn economic model or will it be a game without any money?

As a witness, do you have any further development plans for Steem besides the game?

Are you in contact with any of the current active witnesses?

I hope I didn't scare you with my questions 🙂, I just want to know a little more. It's not every day someone comes along who wants to do something for Steem.

Hi @awitness, great to see you on this journey.

Your profile is impressive, showcasing a wealth of experience - no doubt you're skilled in your field I guess. And not new to STEEM.

I'm keen to see Steempet coming live... I love the idea.

It's strange that you haven't revealed yourself on STEEM, users vote people they know and also confirm their contributions in the blog to be fully convinced that they are voting the right person.

However, I'm willing to support you if I see tangible actions backing up your promises as you stated on your post.

I believe in actions over words. If you stick to your promises... you might just earn my vote much later and potentially gain support from a number of my friends.

I think it would be a good idea to add your Discord or Telegram contacts for user/witness communication. That's necessary as a witness except you have a representative who could be contacted. Let's start the transparency from here....

Welcome on board!

Regards,
Ubongudofot

Hi @ubongudofot,

Thank you for welcoming me! I really appreciate your feedback and the interest you show for SteemPet I can’t wait to bring it to life for the community to enjoy. It’s going to be a fun and interactive project, and seeing people get excited about it motivates me more!

I completely understand your thoughts about anonymity. While I’ve chosen to keep my identity private for personal reasons, I want to assure you that transparency and trust are very important to me too. I know that actions speak louder than words, and I fully intend to back up my promises with real, tangible work on Steem. My focus right now is delivering a high-quality, reliable witness service and, of course and launching SteemPet to bring something unique and fun to the community.

Regarding communication, that’s a great suggestion! I want everyone to feel involved.

I look forward to earning your vote not just through promises, like politicians does but through actions that make a positive impact on Steem.

Thanks again, and talk soon!

Best regards,
@awitness

Hi @awitness I look forward to reading about your experiences
I get a feeling with the way you write that it sounds familiar, but if you've met the big guys, you probably haven't met little me.
I'm looking forward to the game and would love to play it in our wox sanfunn, maybe a collaboration would be fun

Regards @xpilar

Welcome to the nut house!

Sounds good... but I'm wondering, did you just wake up one day and wanted to start a Steem witness, or have you been creeping on and studying this place and its unusual history for a while?

We all did used to make a lot of jokes about *Ned's hair... *

Your game/dApp sounds interesting! We could use some more pet related content around here!
