Witness "pjau" Update Year 2 Week 4
Hello everyone!
So my fourth week of year two as a witness is over. At the time of writing my full rank is #97 and my active rank is #90.
I've had no issues with the server, everything is running smoothly still. Since last weeks update I've produced 32 blocks and haven't missed any.
Outside of being a witness, I've put in 8 hours with @steemcleaners since last update, processed over 200 user reports. I also got another 750 Steem faucet accounts delegation removed #75. Would've done more this week but I have been ill. 😭
Anyway, I think that is all for this weeks update!

What is a steem faucet Account?

An account created through Steemit. They only allow people to create one account. Some people create hundreds which is against their TOS and they get the delegation removed.
I see, what’s the point of having hundreds of accounts, doesn’t make sense to me, extra one to two for work or home but not hundreds.

Well Steemit gives free delegation to the accounts, around 15 SP, so when you create 100 accounts that would mean you effectively have 1,500 SP, they would then use these accounts to farm the Steem rewards. Once of the biggest group of accounts we have caught had 25,000 accounts abusing this, which amounts to nearly 400,000 SP. So you can see how it can get out of control.
Wow that’s nuts, sounds like to much work, but it must be worth there efforts otherwise they wouldn’t do it, or do they just like to spam the platform.

From memory, that particular one made over 50,000 Steem in rewards, wouldn't surprise me if it was a lot more, hard to calculate when they start spreading it around.
They usually run bots to automate spam and upvoting, it would be way too much work for one person to do it manually. 😊
