Witness Proposal: FUBAR-BDHRsteemCreated with Sketch.

Been over a year since I did my original proposal and a lot has changed so figured it was time for an updated one. Well figured it was time months ago but finding time to do it hasn't been easy. So much work to do on steemit. Fighting abuse, curating, and occasionally even posting. I love to curate and fight abuse. Unfortunately there is so much abuse to fight I no longer have time to curate. Rarely even have time to post and enter contests these days either. Love making a good steemit meme now and then just no time to do it. Hopefully we will get ahead of the scammers one of these days and I'll have time to curate and post more. Anyway off to the proposal.

A bit about myself. I prefer to remain mostly anonymous on steemit. I don't use my real name or give personal information. So I will stick to just basic stuff. I started with computers back in 1980 with an Apple ][+. I taught my self to program before I even got to high school. Already knew more than the teachers in high school so computer classes were just have fun for me. Went to college, got a job programming and doing hardware stuff. Basically if it involved a computer I did it. Got into game design in the mid 2000's. That eventually led me to hearing about bitcoin. Started mining bitcoin in early 2014. Just a bit too late for GPU mining. Converted my basement bar into a mining operation for a couple of years. Eventually that became too expensive due to the cost of electric. Sold off my miners when summer 2016 hit. Soon after I heard about steemit and join in July. Only took a few weeks before I set up a node and started mining steem. Did my original witness proposal on August 28 of 2016.

Since I've been on steemit I have been active every day. Started with just posting. I try to make at least 1 post every day and have only missed posting one day in the last 13 months. I started curating over a year ago and found project @curie soon after. While looking for stuff to curate I ran into a lot of spam which led me to the @steemcleaners project. I started submitting stuff to them 2 days before I did my first witness proposal on August 26th, 2016. I was asked to join @steemcleaners and accepted on September 19, 2016. Since I started I have found over 12,500 cases of abuse, investigated over 17,000 cases and logged over 18000 cases. I spend 8 to 14 hours a day searching for and fighting abuse on steemit. I do that every day. I have not taken a single day off since I started. Sitting here searching even on Christmas and New Years. Scammers don't take days off and neither do I. Unfortunately there is a drawback to this dedication. I don't have the time to interact with the community the way other witnesses can. I can't spend the time to solicit votes like others can. So while I work hard every day I still continue to slip down the witness list.

Off to the hardware. I have 2 witness nodes. A primary and a backup.

Primary node:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 Processor - BX80646I74790
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-GAMING 5 LGA 1150 Z97
  • Memory: 2x Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - Black (32 gig total)
  • Primary drive: Kingston HyperX Savage 480GB SSD SATA 3
  • Secondary drive: Seagate 4TB BarraCuda SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive (ST4000DM005)
  • Backup: Both network backup to file server and hot swap drive bay with another 4TB drive
  • OS: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

If your wondering why it's a gaming board it was originally built to be a video encoding/streaming server.

Backup node:

  • Processor: Intel Boxed Core i7-6850K Processor (15M Cache, up to 3.80 GHz) FC-LGA14A 3.6 6 BX80671I76850K
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte LGA2011-3 Intel X99 SLI ATX Motherboard GA-X99P-SLI
  • Memory: 2x Kingston Technology HyperX FURY Black 32 GB Kit CL15 DIMM DDR4 2400 MT/s (64 gig total)
  • GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 WINDFORCE OC 6G (GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD)
  • Primary drive: Kingston HyperX Savage 480GB SSD SATA 3
  • Secondary drive: Seagate 4TB BarraCuda SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive
  • Backup: Both network backup to file server and hot swap drive bay with another 4TB drive

If your wondering why I put a good GPU on it this is also a backup for my bar machine just in case. Who knows might do some mining on it in the winter too. It has plenty of power to both be a node and mine to keep the bar warm.

  • Other
  • Power: Each machine is on a separate 3KVA UPS.
  • Internet: Each machine is on a separate 12/1 meg line. Also have 3rd line on separate ISP I can switch to.

Picture of the setup can be found in Episode 330 of my bar photo blog.

I do have plans to add a seed node at some point. A VPS is just not in the budget at the moment. I prefer to put my money into my own hardware. Unfortunately my internet options are limited so I can't host my own.

Tried to Witness vote you mate, not sure I've succeeded I think you should appear down here...

Steemians remeber you can vote for up to 30 witnesses and the address to vote is https://steemit.com/~witnesses

If you want to vote for someone outside the top 50 use the search form.

No entry in steemd so looks like it didn't work. Make sure to use lowercase.

Now it did, and my notifications also work :)

Have a nice day and keep Steem ON!
