Witness Update Report #17

Hey there all you awesome Steemians, thanks for popping in to another witness update from our end. It has been a pretty quiet week so far, nothing devastating to report, other than our witness server is running as it should, smooth and steady, no blocks missed and we have a stable price feed. We are sitting at position 57 on the witness list, and would just like to mention we love that you are now able to see the top 100 witnesses.

There was also some much anticipated news regarding Hardfork 20, this is more geared towards some small changes with regards to implementing a new Resource Credit system, which you can read about more here

We have also received confirmation on the location and date of SteemFest³ thanks to @roelandp which this year will be held in Poland, for more on that check it out here and we hope to be seeing a lot of you there.

Please take a moment to read our Witness Proposal, and if you support the same fundamentals and vision as we do for the future of the Steemit community, please consider voting for us as witness here.

ADSactly Steemit Help - Images

When creating a post on Steemit, there is a lot more to think about than just the content of your post. The text is very important and you should put a great deal of care into everything you write and post on your Steemit blog. There is, however, another extremely important part of your posts. IMAGES

Images provide you with the opportunity to bring your words to life. Good images can make or break your whole post. The images you choose will represent what you are trying to get across in your post and in many ways give better context to your words. You should carefully consider a few things when choosing images for your post. The quality of the image is very important. You want to make sure the image is clear and easy for the viewer to see. You also want to make sure that the image is relevant to your post and makes sense. Your readers should not have to wonder what the image is about or why it is there. It should be clear from the content they are reading.

There are a couple options when choosing images for your post. The first and most recommended is to take your own pictures and use those images in your post. When you do this it gives a real feel for your content and it makes what you post even more personal. There are actually many contests on Steemit and many very busy tags that encourage and reward photography. The other way is to source your images from other places. This means that you find images online and borrow them for your post. It is recommended that you use free source pictures from sites like Pixabay. There are many of these free image sites online and they ensure that you are not copying an image without permission. It is also very important to make sure that you ALWAYS source your images. Sourcing your image ensures that you give credit for the image to the person or site that you got it.

For example:

If you hover over the "source" you will see the link to the source and you can click to view it

Pixabay

One other thing to consider when choosing images is the very first image in your post. This is the image that will act as the thumbnail for your post and the image that everyone will see as they are scrolling through and searching for a post to read. Having an eye-catching or interesting picture as your thumbnail can help attract people to your post and increase views and possibly votes. These are just some of the basics to consider. Play around with your images and you will find what works for you but always remember to source them. Happy posting.

A lot of my posts are without pictures but recently I have started to notice a subtle difference. The posts that I make with picture or that have a decent thumbnail get higher rewards. I am not exactly sure what the reason could be for that but I feel that readers feel that posts with images are more engaging.

And ultimately the idea is to generate user engagement here. So if the images are working then I am all for it. I have using my new smartphone to take a bunch of good images that I can use for my posts (obviously I am not photographer but......)

Well people want to be intrigued, and you want to keep their curiosity, why should they click on your post and then read it. Making a good looking first image is key to getting other users to engage with you.
