Search True Wisdom in the Life of Every Book You Read!

in #wisdom6 years ago

Hi, dear brothers Steemians!

I have usually talked about the importance of earning knowledge and wisdom and how it could eventually turn out to be your winning card in life.

But how you acquire this wisdom is also important. The habit of reading is certainly a good one, but is there a way that we could improve on that habit and do it with much more determination and strength?

Well, there is no point asking a question like that from someone like me.

So, settle in as I begin to talk about the art of acquiring knowledge and wisdom.

People read books differently. A person might enjoy binge-reading hundreds of pages in a day, while another person might take the more rational approach of reading a few dozen pages every day.

A person might sit in front of a desk to read and a person might do it while they are lying on a bed. This is practically up to you to decide.

I am not here to tell you how you should manage your habit of reading. I want to emphasize more on the idea of reading and how well it is done, specially when we are talking about novels with worldbuilding and etc.

Sharing in the world of the author is just as important as focusing on every detail that goes on in the book.

image2.jpg
img src

What do I mean by that?

When we consume knowledge, we store it in a certain part of our brain for a certain amount of time.

More importantly, many details will be lost to us after a few days.

While that is the natural state of our mind and its processes, we could try to counter this natural tendency by thinking about a method that makes an everlasting impression on the audience of a book.

That method is a simple technique that you should use whenever you start to read something. Whether it is a scientific book or a fictional one, there is always something new to learn.

And what better way to do that other than sharing in the life of the world that the author has created?

image3.jpg
img src

What I am suggesting is basically like this: When you sit down to read a book, don’t just indulge in it as a member of the audience.

Use your creative energy and imagination to enter the world of the book.

Feel the presence of every character.

Feel the weight of their words. Understand the depths of their hearts. Grasp the thoughts of their mind.

Do not read the book. Live the book!

At the end of your imaginative journey, you will realize that the wisdom and experience that you have gained from it is much more than you normally would.

This is the art of reading books in a way that they never leave you or your mindset. Imagine if you read powerful works of fiction or motivation in this manner!

The result will be the collective wisdom that will baffle many a man in contact!

A BIG HUG!!!

Hello,
I started reading books with 8 years on a tree near my home, hours and hours. A little later at the age of 13, I started to go to libraries to get some new reading stuff, later in my life I started buying antique books on eBay...
Never regret it, knowledge and wisdom are the gems of life.
Have a great day
Tom

During my late 20’s & 30’s I became quite obsessed with reading about philosophy, which I was also academically studying. I would get an idea into my head and then read one or more of my favourite authors, keeping the idea in my mind. This way I would find valuable information relevant to my idea and so the art of reading would help the idea to grow. After several years of this practice My philosophies became intertwined with the authors I admired the more and my knowledge and understanding for life flourished🙏

Excellent review @chbartist and you are absolutely right, books have always been an excellent source of information and just human experience. We can find a lot for ourselves in books and understand the wise thoughts that humanity has kept for us in books in order to use them on our way!

I'm new to the site, but found a few of your articles over the last few hours. I'll be back to read more. Well thought out articles, excellent presentation, and a joy to read.... plus, if you actually take the time to digest... you actually might learn something about community, yourself and a lot more. Well done, keep it up!

It's a beautiful recommendation you make to your readers. It is hard to believe that a technical or scientific book can recreate us as if it were a fiction or a movie, but it is possible. Many books of my academic background have been used as material to write poetry, stories and even drawings, because nothing that is read is alien to our reality and our inner world. Reading opens the doors to knowledge, wisdom and creation.

Regards

increible tu post mucha suerte Saludos!

Looking forward to your youtube videos! Great content, as always. I usualy spend free time listening to non-fiction audiobooks and I am always hyped while it lasts. I always get lost in emotions and think how I will never be the same after this book... but most of the time the hype fades away a few weeks after finishing the book. Despite just reading, I have decided to start sharing the best of the best, gained from each book I read and challenge myself into acting out the wise words, not just listening to them, but living them.

Really living a book helps one acquire the knowledge through action of integrating traits and learnings in our lives and decisions. We often breeze through readings to check them off the list and miss the opportunity to enjoy the learning.

Hello @chbartist!

Reading allows generating experiences without the need to live the reality that can generate it. In many cases it is cheaper to read about a site than to visit that site.

We can learn work techniques, which we will then put into practice in the labor field, and efficiently

We will learn how to handle risk situations, controlling the materialization of an accident

Reading makes us more knowledgeable, wiser, generating confidence in what we do, raising levels of personal satisfaction and generating collective recognition.

Greate article bro @chbartist completely agree that reading books is makes more intelligent everybody...
