Sweetheart Wine Tour

In celebration of Valentine's Day my family and I took a local wine tour.
Sponsored by Pearmund Cellars this tour had it all! (wine, chocolates, roses, port)
Everything a girl needs on Valentine's Day.  💁

I choose this occasion to rock my new Steemit inspired tee from @bitcoinshirtz! Its super comfy and looks casual (but classy) paired with a basic cardigan.

We started our tour at Pearmund winery, where we sampled both Pearmond and Effingham Manor wines. Each wine came paired with a Valentines related activity but I decided to provide my own. 😉

Pearmund Cellars

  • 2014 40th Anniversary’ old Vine Chardonnay
    • Taste: Soft crisp flavor that creates a “savory mouth feel”
    • Pairs with spontaneous making out in the backseat of your car  💞
    • Fun fact: Pearmond has grown Chardonnay grapes since 1976; the oldest Chardonnay in Virginia
  • 2014 Viognier
    • Taste: Very sweet with a syrupy consistency
    • Pairs with a huge V-day teddy bear; okay right now but annoying in the long run  👎
  • 2014 Cabernet Franc
    • Taste: Spicy and bold
    • Pairs with a spontaneous salsa lesson 💃
    • Alternate Pairing: According to our wine server this also pairs great with a Subway BLT.
  • 2014 Petit Verdot
    • Taste: Bold flavor with hints of blackberry
    • Pairs with fruit dipped in chocolate  🍫
  • 2014 Ameritage
    • Taste: Smooth and balanced
    • Pairs with that perfect Netflix and Chill (i.e. Couch sex)

Effingham Manor Winery

  • 2015 Chardonnay
    • Taste: Sweet and crisp
    • Pairs with an anticipated first kiss  👄
  • 2015 Rose’
    • Taste: Semi-dry cherries juiced to perfection
    • Pairs with backyard canoodling on a cool summer night
    • Fun Fact: Voted as #1 Rose in the USA by the Indy International Wine Competition
  • 2015 Traminette
    • Taste: Sweet and simple
    • Pairs with a romantic picnic by the lake
  • 2015 Merlot
    • Taste: Light and peppery
    • Pairs with homemade spaghetti (share a plate for that lady and the tramp moment)
  • 2014 Tannat
    • Taste: Bold and fruity with a hint of blackberries
    • Pairs with a sexy soak in the hot tub

Cheers!

Vint Hill

Next we moved on to Vint Hill winery in Warrington, Virginia.

  • Phillips Falk Sauvignon Blanc
    • Taste: Acidic and tart
    • Pairs well with a cheap date.. 😖 (My advice: Stay Home!)
  • Vint Hill Viognier
    • Taste: Peachy and light, very smooth
    • Pair well with a night of watching shooting starts  🌠 (Remember to wish for more!)
  • Covert Winework’s Enigma
    • Taste: Bold with a touch of black cherries
    • Pairs well with a drive in movie; a classic surprise
  • Vint Hill Cabernet Sauvignon
    • Taste: Smooth with a hints of juicy plums
    • Pairs with great with a girls night! (We don't need those boys anyway)
  • Covert Winework’s “Coco D’Lappote”
    • Taste: Semi-sweet with a chocolaty finish
    • Pairs well with couples ice skating; this will keep you warm and fearless

What we took home:

At the end of the day I took home the Effinghame Rose' and Vit Hill Port (Coco D’Lappote). My sister apparently enjoys oversized Teddy Bears (i.e. the Pearmond Vognier).

Thanks for reading and I encourage you to try these pairings.. I know you're curious  😏

Sort:

I'm glad! it was a fun one to write 😊
