Pollard, Gayle and Bravo among star international recruits for revamped South African domestic tournament
West Indians have been the men in demand for the first stage of the player draft in South Africa's revamped domestic T20 competition, with three players from the archipelago chosen among the first five international marquee recruits. Allrounder and regular T20 gun for hire Kieron Pollard was the first to be snapped up by Bloemfontein, before Cape Town Knight Riders recruited the services of veteran opener Chris Gayle with third pick, and Dwayne Bravo became the fifth man to go when he was chosen by Pretoria Mavericks. Quick Single: Bangladesh v Australia, first Test scorecard New Zealander Brendon McCullum (second pick) and England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan (fourth) went to Johannesburg and Durban respectively. South Africa born England pair Kevin Pietersen (sixth, Port Elizabeth) and Jason Roy (seventh, Benoni), and Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga (eighth, Stellenbosch) completed the international marquee recruits.

With the eight franchises having already been allocated their local marquee players, each squad now has another 16 players to select in the 16-round second phase of the draft on Sunday to complete their 18-man rosters. Those remaining 128 players will be made up of 32 international players and 96 local players, with each squad allowed five of the former, while also requiring two rookies. The tournament is scheduled to be played in November and December.
