First signs of autumn
It seems odd to associate autumn with flowering but Cosmos, a naturalised weed in our country, is always the first sign. I don't know why, but it is the inspiration for bad "art" everywhere. It seems almost mandatory for people with no taste to have a bad watercolour or similar by a hobbyist painter in their house.
At this time of year, every disturbed patch of ground turns into a meadow of mostly pink or white flowers all mixed up with each other. Occasionally, you can see the odd maroon flower but those are rarer.
Bidens formosa is indigenous to Mexico and Southern USA. I think it first arrived here in animal fodder.

Wooww.. I love Cosmos flowers :D Popular garden flowers in Poland. Not a weed :p
That's because Polish weather keeps it under control. Definitely a weed here
This lawn with flowers reminds me of summer, when it is warm and there are also such flowers in the meadow.
Yes, they are one of the few flowers here that grow like that
The fields do look pretty and inspirational to reproduce with art work :-)
Except that it's been done a million times...
Very pretty but too bad it's an invasive species. I think the same of purple loosestrife here - gorgeous in photos.
Hmm, that is pretty
