Million Dollar Booze
A rare bottle of whiskey sold for $1.01 million dollars at a Hong Kong auction this week. The 60 year old bottle is one of only 12 on the planet. Prices for old scotch whiskey have been increasing due to limited quantities and people's interest in fine alcohol that has seemed to explode in recent years.
The bottle was produced by Macallan which is a Scottish distillery. It was aged for 60 years before being offered for sale in 1986. The price works out to around 12k for one single shot of the aged liquor. Insanity!
I bet it taste so smooth, but at that price is it an investment or a really expensive splurge item for someone with more money than brains? We may never know?..
