How to Prepare Fried Rice 🍙
Happy weekend fam. I hope you are enjoying your weekend over there? In today's food episode, I brought you a special and popular delicious meal called Fried Rice.
This meal is mostly prepared at occasions in Nigeria, it's a meal I and my siblings love. And it's said to be the companion of Jollof at every event. Well for me Fried Rice is just the perfect meal every day and anytime.
I don't have all the full ingredients here, but the unmentioned ingredients are optional e.g. Carrots and Beef. I feel like eating a Fried Rice this weekend and that is why I decided to go for the lower recipes. But trust me, I am going to be using the vital ingredients I got to prepare the Fried Rice.
Ingredients;
- Rice
- Groundnut oil
- Thyme powder
- Curry powder
- Onion bulb
- Salt
- Fresh red pepper or black pepper
- Green bean
- Sweet corn
- Maggi cubes
- Fresh carrot
Steps to Prepare Fried Rice
Step 1
Firstly wash all the vegetables. Dice the onion and set it aside. Peel the carrot and cut it into small cubes, remove the sealed cover of the Green peas and the Sweet Corn and pour into a sieve and set it aside as you can see below.
Step 2
I am going to be using a parboiling method to parboil the rice. Put clean water on the heat then after it's boiled, turn the water into the rice and cover it for ten minutes, use a sieve to separate the rice from the water then leave it apart. Mind you, if you are parboiling the rice like this don't use a plastic bowl to parboil it, instead use a stainless or a stockpot like the one you see here.
Step 3
Place a pot on the fire and after it's boiled add the Groundnut oil, Beef water, the fried rice spices, Curry powder, Thyme powder, and Powder Maggi then stir and cover it to heat a little bit. You can now carefully add the parboiled rice with a spoon or a sieve it into the fermented water, stir and cover it to cook for about five minutes.
Step 4
Add the remaining ingredients like Green peas, Sweet corns, Sliced onions, Sliced Carrot, and the Blended Pepper, stir and leave it for two minutes. Note; The cooked rice should not be soggy or too tender and the grains shouldn't stick together either. You can now pour out the fried rice into a wider pot and set it aside, food is now ready to serve.
