The Complete Guide To Whaleshares Extremely Targeted To Newbies || SteemGig Contest
Hello Steemians,
Greetings,
This looks like a wonderful morning and a wonderful day to learn about a revolutionary idea that will help you minnow, yes you on the computer/mobile screen, to boost your post and have some impact on this beautiful community. So, sit tight and flow with me so that you get a complete picture of this project and use it for your SELF.
ps: this post is highly targeted to newbies and is very long and detailed
What Actually Is A Whale??
Okay, before knowing what actually is whaleshares, let's learn about whales. It's a big fish right?? Indeed.. but that's what in animal kingdom. We are here in steemit kingdom :P . Here we are unofficially categorized as whales, dolphins and minnows ... Whales represent something that have more power, and minnows are something that have less power. That's a catch. If you have more power you are a whale, you have sufficient power you are a dolphin and if you have less power then you are a minnow.
Okay, How Is The Power Measured??
So, now you know that you are categorized unofficially on the basis of power you hold. But what represent how much power you have?
For that, let's head over to your steemit wallet. I'll show you mine, you can follow the same.
On the top right of your screen, you'll see your avatar or your profile picture for say. Click on that and then click on wallet
So, there are there currencies, steem, steem power and steem dollars.
Steem and Steem dollars are some currencies which has their value in the markets. Steem power is also a currency same as steem but it's not in the liquid state. By that I mean it's locked in your account and you need to convert it to steem to be able to trade, transfer or do whatever you like. That process needs you to power down your steem power which will take 13 weeks. Anyway, steem power is what measures how much power you hold. If you have more than 100k steem power(sp) than you are a whale, you have more than 10k sp then you are a dolphin and you have less than 10k sp then you are a minnow (approx). As you can see, I have 632.527 sp so I am a minnow.
having more power have you more influence in the community
How Whales Can Get You Extremely High Reward??
Okay, now that you know having more power have you more influence in the society, what actually I mean by that?
That means you can regulate the steemit post payout, and you can decide how much you want to give the author for their effort. Let's see this with an example.
Here's a comment from @deepapoudel
let's see how my vote will reward this comment
As you can see, with my 632.527 sp I can give this comment 19 cents with my 100% upvote.
let's see how a vote from whale would reward the same comment. I can't call a whale and say him/her to upvote this comment because that's not practical. I will, however, use randowhale which has 631.2k sp delegated and 7.9k sp on it's own. Altogether it has 639k sp which is a very huge amount. Let's see how this affects the payout.
You see, this gave 5.62 dollars to this comment on only 4.7% upvote. It might have been 100 dollars for say on 100% upvote !!
If you are confused on delegation and voting percentage then let me know in the comment so that I can help you understand via post or comment. If you want to know how to use randowhale and other post booster then feel free to comment.
So, this is one thing that you can give the authors reward for their hard work. Next that you also get high payout when you have high steem power. For example I get around 30 to 40 dollars per post on average, but if I were a whale I would have got 300 to 400 dollars per post on average.
Okay Now, What Is Whaleshare?
Let me keep this very simple
whaleshare is a token that will help you get a whale upvote
Do you know bitcoin, or dash or zcash ?? They are cryptocurrencies that has it's own value in the market just like steem and steem dollars. But, do you know BAT(Basic Attention Token), EOS ?? These are tokens just like cryptocurrencies. They also have their own value and their own purpose on why they were built. BAT was built to solve the problem of current advertisement system and bring a revolutionary decentralized advertisement system, EOS was built to provide a utility layer between our decentralized applications and blockchain that they are based on.
If you want to know more about cryptocurrencies, and assets and their purpose then let me know in the comment :)
Similarly, whaleshare is also a token just like any other tokens and it was built to get yourself a whale upvote.
So, How To Use Whaleshare Tokens?
So, now you know that using these whaleshares token you can get yourself a whale upvote. But the question is HOW??
This is very simple, let me explain you stepwise
step 1:
go to http://whaleshares.net/ and click on upvote
step 2:
copy the url of steemit post where you want upvote from a whale and paste it here
step 3:
this step needs you to choose one of the whale. Okay so, what is this ??
To understand this, let's understand something else
When you are using whaleshares to get yourself a whale vote then which whale will upvote you ??
So, there are particular tokens for respective whales. Don't you worry, this will come in the later part of the post. For now, let's only know that whaleshare tokens will get you an upvote from @officialfuzzy.
So, let us suppose this one is whaleshare and thereby @officialfuzzy
step 4:
copy the url from here
Note that this is now saying invalid url because I haven't pasted any post url in step 2. Once you are done with step 2 you can see some code there.
step 5:
go to your bitshares or openledger account and transfer your whaleshares token to the respective whale using the memo as code from step 4.
How many whaleshares to send?
This will come in the later part of the post
Which account to send whaleshares?
This is clearly mentioned in step 3
What to type in the memo?
This is the code that you get from step 4
How Much Reward Would One get From Whaleshares?
This depends on by how much percentage the whale has voted your post. And, the percentage of whale vote that you will be getting depends on how much whaleshares you send. If you send 23 whaleshares you get 23% upvote from the respective whale if you send 1 whaleshares you get 1% upvote. So, 1 whaleshares = 1% upvote from the respective whale.
Okay, How Do You Actually Get these Whaleshare tokens ??
You can officially get these tokens from steemit contest and giveaways. @officialfuzzy, and other who have a lot of these tokens occasionally organize contests where you can participate and win some whaleshares token.
Also, you can trade them with bitshares, or any other cryptocurrencies.
Okay, Now I am Clear About Whaleshare Tokens But I Have A Question... Is There Any Other Tokens Like Whaleshares?
Yes, there it is. There are only two of them as of now. One is whaleshare and the another is beyondbit. The only difference between them is that whaleshare gets you an upvote from @officialfuzzy but beyondbit gets you an upvote from @fuzzyvest.
Okay Okay, I Want To Know What Benefits Does This Actually Brings To The Community?
Whaleshares are created to make steem go up in demand and price. The main purpose of these tokens is to provide support for good authors and help get their post noticed.
The benefits are endless, and here are some :
- to end the rule of upvote bots
- to encourage more of human interactions and engagements
- to give minnows and newbies, also some good authors with reward they deserve
- to make steem go up in demand and price
- to provide support for good authors

wow, glad that I could be of help :)
Damnd man, this a truly super helpful post, so simple to understand and always the step by step. I want to know how to get the whaleshares to pay the sponsor, sorry I didnt get that part. And just another quick one, how I make grow my steem power? I am reaaaally new here, but I try to participate as much as I can, I really love spending time here, but I also noticed that my steem power is really low and grows super slow. If you have any tips, or just tell me the right way it works would be awesome, thanks for el the info, love this kind of posts, and the big whales helping us with this kind of new info. See you son, I will check your blog more frequently.
thank you! nice to hear that this post did help you :)
you can always win steems from contests going on steemit, also the most common way is from blogging. you can also get some whaleshares from the contest and also hanging around the whaleshares discord channel here https://discord.gg/KDTEjR ...since you're a newbie I can understand how it takes to earn at the beginning but yeah that will change with time.
you can also use post boosters like randowhale, booster, minnowbooster etc. you know, when we were here at the beginning there were no such boosters and all. you can also gather following and create engagements through comments. earning steem power takes a lot of time at the beginning but patience is certainly a key :)
Thanks again for the info, and for the quick answer, I know we have to be patience, and keep the constant participation here, every post, comment, resteem, worth and make this in constant grow. Im gonna keep learning and exploring around here. Thanks for everything.
you're welcome :)
