We are always working to increase the market value of the cards, so we will be very careful to make sure the new cards are not a replacement for the old cards.
Oh I’m just joking with ya brotha! I assume the new cards will get better and hope they do! Just like the original Charizard is still the most valuable card but is way less powerful than the new ones.. That’s just how it is.. I assumed the benefit of using Alpha and Beta would probably be more DEC earned per battle or something, but definitely looking forward to the future of the Splinterlands!!
So the early players/investors will always have an advantage?
How do you plan on attracting thousands of new players? Renting can only accomodate a few dozen maybe a hundred new players wanting to compete at the top.
Beyond that anybody new coming into the the game will have a disadvantage not having mana 2 summoners, legendary summoners and some amazing cards like cocatrice, elven and lord arianthus.
This is a serious question since I want this game to grow but I just don't get how this can be overcome.
If we grow enough we can introduce different formats just like MtG, Hearthstone, and others do. So new players can play in a format that only allows the newest sets and players with more cards can play in a format that allows everything (and will likely have larger prizes).
Sweet!!! This won’t be like the new Pokémon GX cards that totally decimate the old cards stats is it lol?

...and will the old ones never be re-printed? Are you old enough to remember Magic the gathering's Chronicles fiasco?

Would these new formats be for tournaments only or for season play as well?
