whale stranded at Indarason laut

The whale( species unknown) was found stranded early this morning 2 April 2018 at the Indarason Laut beach located not very far from the tip of Borneo sabah Malaysia.

Due to poor coverage network, they villagers unable to communicate immediately with WWF Malaysia ( they have office in Kudat town about 1 hour by road) to the location of stranding. They however managed to contact Rescue Unit of Sabah Wildlife Department, Dr Diana a vet the member of Rescue Unit sent instruction what to do until the team arrived at the scene. the villagers was assembling a team to push back the mammmal back when high tide comes.Sabah Parks office ( office in Kudat town) was also sending a team to the location.

This is not the first a whale standed within the Tun Mustapha Marine Park. The past records not in favor of the mammals, most died of exhaustion and dihydration despite being push back to water. until today the causes of whale strading is not well understood. Post mortem conducted to carcasses in the previous cases, shows that the mammals stomach contained plenty of household garbage.
