Getting Started With Us Cool People - All You Need For The Steemit Journey.
Well fast track to today, I realized it's not about the money. It's all about the community. Well that's a story for another day.
This is me right now.
When I got on here, I was as confused as you are right now newbie, YES YOU! I was like a dog in a pond.... no, in mud. That's actually worse than you. I was pretty lost in here, but I had help of course to get me on.
What is Steemit then actually?
You might not even know what Steemit is yet and I'm boring you with my crappy story.
Let's keep it simple shall we.
Let's just say Steemit is the Facebook of the blockchain land....just bigger and badder. Yeah you can leave and stop reading now if you didn't think there would be something badder than Facebook.
Yes, it's built on the Blockchain.
The blockchain is a digital list of records. What makes it special is that it is decentralized.
Public ledger of efficient economic cryptocurrency transactions between two parties whose records are linked and secured using cryptography.
Now that would need you to read at least thrice but like I said, I like to keep things simple. So let's just say on the blockchain, you have an equal say with Trump. Uhum, D. Trump.
Now let's leave the blockchain "ish" and talk about the real thing shall we? The money making
(Trust me the money will be the last thing on your mind when you fall in love with Steemit)
So let's talk Steemit.
Steemit is a decentralized social media platform powered by the blockchain technology which uses steem and steem dollars (SBD) to reward its users. These are cryptocurrencies that can be converted to Fiat and then viola.... groceries, or perhaps that IPhone.
You do realize all these IPhone talk is me enticing a child with sweets right.
O God.... not what you're thinking. NOT PERVERT.
Getting started on Steemit.
Now you're talking man.
Well it's pretty simple actually.
All you have to do is click on Signup as shown above. Fill in your details and you are set to go. I don't need to feed you with all the details of this too do I? You can figure it not, besides that's not actually what you need to learn trust me.
Now that you are registered and have your password, the first thing you need to know is -
DO NOT LOSE YOUR PASSWORD.
That's your key to your account. I have it, and I have your whole steem life.
What To Do Then.
Getting started here is going to be walk in the Sahara if you have the right guidance and right communities. Oh come on, I meant easy, yes, easy. Walking in the Sahara is quite a fun thing for me....kind of a hobby. Alright then, let's meet in the middle - Walking bare bodied in the Swiss Alps. Now that was extreme.
Okay, my point is - Communities are of key importance on Steemit (That right ones that is, though I've actually never seen a "wrong" community here. We are all cool people in here.)
Now that would largely depend on what you decide to be doing in here. There's lot of space for everyone and we are glad to have you all writers, artists, homesteaders, musicians..... name it.
It's a big community for everyone.
For a start, it would be cool, to join these communities even before completing your registration and get off on the right foot, make some friends and guidance.
For starters, I'd recommend everyone to join Minnow Support Project (MSP) on the Peace, Abundance & Liberty (PAL) discord server even before being completely registered. It's quite simple, just click HERE if you have discord already. You can also automatically download it by clicking on the same link. You're definitely going to need discord if you wanna enjoy your time here.
For us writey writers - Get started with The Writers Block HERE and Isle of Write HERE
For the Artists, Slthicorn will just be the right start HERE
You sing? Hit IT at the Steem Music Alliance.
Are you a vlogger? Check out other Vloggers here on DTube
Need more guidance on how to use the Steem Blockchain, Check out Steem Schools HERE or SteemSchool HERE.
In all, Steemit is an amazing place to showcase your talent and be yourself with no censorship. We make the rules together and we drive the community the way we want to.
I have been on steemit writing for... wow. I just looked. My first post was exactly 6 months ago today! I've been loving the community and the inspiration so much. Its the first time that I've been inspired to write this consistently in YEARS.
The problems with bots and all that is a bit disheartening at times and I worry about it all falling apart, but until that time I am really enjoying the entire platform and all of the communities that I've been finding along the way. It really is just right up my alley.
I appreciate it when people take something that can be a bit overwhelming and break it down into a nice simple list of bullet points and "how to"! So thanks for sharing!
Well first, happy 6 month Steem birthday😃. Steem has taught and helped us with a whole lot. Consistency has greatly increased as well on my part.
Thank you for stopping by and for the really kind words. Checked out your blog, it's awesome. Followed you ASAP.

Very nice little guide! I found it helpful, and Im sure the newer members of steemit will also find it very helpful! Thanks for sharing all those links!
Off to join some discord channels...
Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad it helped you and I hope it helps others as much.
Im sure it will! :D
Excellent introduction to Steemit, very little on here is obvious and it can take a long time to really work out what you are doing and where you are going - which is why so many new accounts drop out quite quickly.
As we all progress on our journey on here trying to grow and evolve our own accounts, it is really important to take the time to help others we come across to grow and develop themselves - be it helpful posts like this one where you share valuable guidance, encouraging comments and upvotes - sharing good content so it get's spread around the platform more.
Good, original and creative content drives this platform and advertises to help it move forward - it is in all our best interests to both produce the best we can and help encourage others to stay and share their own work - without posts and comments this social blockchain will slowly break down.
