The House Judiciary Committee announced today that it has scheduled a hearing on a cannabis policy reform bill known as the MORE Act. This Wednesday at 10:00am the most comprehensive federal legislation to date will be voted on in committee before being referred to the full Senate for a vote.

This legislation (the MORE Act) will not only remove cannabis from scheduling entirely by removing it from the Controlled Substances list, but it will include vital reforms such as expungements of cannabis convictions. It will also attempt to bring some justice through grants and other small business aid for those people personally affected by cannabis prohibition.

This is just the beginning for this important legislation. It has a long way to go, but this is the farthest a bill of this scope has ever been. The MORE Act is expected to pass a full vote in the House soon before heading to the Senate where it faces a republican majority and considerably more challenging atmosphere. Still, it is very promising. With the cannabis banking bill being received well earlier this year, congressional leaders must now show that they not only serve the money of the cannabis industry. A supermajority of everyday Americans (67%) favor cannabis decriminalization and justice reform, and 2020 is an election year.

This is good news, but a great sign that better things are yet to come.

Thanks!

I’m hopeful. The committee vote is today.

Interesting update!

Thank you. I think it’s very promising this time.

Its about Time!!👍👍👍

expungements of cannabis convictions
I feel this is one of the best things that could possibly be done. How many do we have sitting in prison right now for cannabis charges? Way too many. Its a shame this hasn't been sooner. I know too many that have had their lives destroyed from a cannabis conviction.

This quote from Joe Rogan says it all. Locking people up for cannabis IS criminal. Hopefully one day we will have justice. Thank you for supporting quality content and engagement on Steem and helping spread the word about the power of jury nullification. ✌️💚😎

This is really good, if it passes... let's hope that all those people locked up in jails for smoking a little bit of weed don't come out too damaged to live in society.

More good news. Now let's see what happens when the act reaches the top dogs.
