Wise parable of Jesus: The fertile land of a certain wealthy man produced crops. Luke 12:16
The Gospel of Luke relates that after Jesus left the region of Galilee and set out on his final journey to the city of Jerusalem, the divine teacher taught the commandment of love, the Lord's Prayer and a series of important parables to describe the Kingdom of God, parables such as the Good Samaritan, the persistent friend, and the lamp.
And Jesus, to deepen in the importance of grace, the action of the holy spirit in people with his spiritual gifts, taught about the importance of seeking that hidden treasure, a treasure that cannot be found through human efforts but through the mercy (compassion, kindness) and infinite love of God (Agape), a spiritual treasure that is the source of true life for man, the eternal life, and that makes men similar to God in essence: "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" Matthew 5:48. But with this teaching, Jesus also warned of the danger of the love of money, which is a form of idolatry, because this form of love diverted towards apparent goods suffocates the word of God and does not make it bear fruit in the heart.
And so Jesus began with these words to teach about the parable of the rich fool: "The fertile land of a certain wealthy man produced crops" Luke 12:16. And so Jesus continued with what this rich man planned to do with everything he had accumulated: have fun and enjoy himself, but then Jesus said that God had asked for his life, and so Jesus asked himself who would get all that the rich man had accumulated. The rich man lived like a fool and his wealth at the end of his days only served to arouse the greed of others, with this way of thinking, private wars, scams, and murders have no end.
Thus Jesus concluded with a wise thought on this parable: "So it is with him who stores up for himself, and is not wealthy with God" Luke 12:21. The true goods for man are the spiritual goods, and the sensible life consists in the search for them. As happened with Solomon, when God offered him a wish he asked for wisdom and all the other goods came as a consequence of this request.
