The Next Flint Michigan.. Cape Fear North Carolina
This is a very bothersome and little known story coming out of North Carolina regarding the poisoning of drinking water by the chemical company Dupont. Dupont has been dumping a chemical known as GenX in the Cape Fear River in North Carolina continuously since 2009. GenX is known to be a very harmful chemical and the damage from this may be worse than what we saw in Flint Michigan for people who have been consuming water for years sourced from the Cape Fear River. If you want to learn more about the situation checkout the links below but I want to spend the rest of this post highlighting the importance of ensuring clean drinking water for you and your family because I work in the drinking water industry.

THE SITUATION:
Human beings are made of water, we are water, therefore clean, safe drinking water should be your top priority concerning your health. Clean safe drinking water is becoming more and more scarce due to industrialization and population growth. Water providers spike tap water with chlorine and other chemicals that negatively impact your health. This is kind of a necessary evil to deliver the water from the treatment plant through miles of underground pipes to your tap without picking up any bacteria along the way. We take it for granted, the water coming out of our faucets looks clean and tastes alright so many of us assume the water is good for us.
SOLUTION:
Have a reverse osmosis or another type of advanced filtration system installed at your home that takes out every possible harmful chemical before it enters into your homes plumbing. Do your research, this can be very expensive but is the best way to go and is definitely worth the cost.
PRACTICAL SOLUTION:
If the type of system I mentioned above is out of your price range there is a practical solution that anyone can afford (under $300). Buy a stand alone gravity filter that goes in your kitchen and provides you and your family with as much clean, safe drinking water that you need. IMPLICATION:
Taking responsibility and ensuring safe water for you and your family is yet another step we can all take towards being more self-sufficient. I can go on about fluoride and chlorine but let me keep this brief and stress that this is very important! Don't trust your public water suppliers, look what happened to our neighbors in Flint and what's currently shaping up in North Carolina. It feels great to take matters into your own hands and confidently know that you are drinking pure water.. CLEAN WATER --- The most important key to good health and survival!
