Power

power in political sense is the ability to control the affairs of other people. Every body on earth wants to be in the position of power but few makes judicial use of it. If power is rightly used it could be beneficial but if wrongly use it is always detrimental.
Abuse of Power means using power for what it is not meant for.A police usinghis power as a police officer to molest an innocent civilian is an abuse of power.
Abuse of power is one of the major problems facing African countries. It is common among political office holders , millitay personnels and the law makers. Idi Amin of Uganda used his power as president to kill people of other tribes during his regime. Gen. Sani Abacha of Nigeria did the same. Stories have be told about people who are in prisson because they criticised a person in place pf power. In Africa, wealthy people always win cases in the court because their could give bribe to the lawyers.
The consequence of power abuse is that it brings about unrest to both the peron in power and his subject. Osama Bin Laden never new peace in his life time. Also abuse of power retards developement . It brings about political instability, lose of lifes and properties.
It is therefore important that the aspirants' life style be properly reviewed be voting them into power. Also government should incoorporate within it's system a way of checking excessive use of power and finally, as a political office holder try and understand that if one fails to control power, He becomes a slave to power.
