Armies on Parade: Parade Day report
Hello everyone,
Today I finally have the time to tell you how Parade Day was. Date was the 13th October (last Saturday). On Monday the new semester started and I was super tired from the weekend, so sorry for not posting on weekend as planned.
There were six other competitors, four of them with display boards and two with their plain armies. My display board was by far the brightest one. The other armies were Dark Eldar, Nurlge, Death Guard, Orks, Custodes and Space Wolves.
Anyway here is my finished display board:
I just finished it at the same day, only a few hours before the contest began and worked mainly on the harpy / hive crone wings the two nights before. But this miniature will get his own post some time.
Over the day people had the possibility to vote for their favorite entry, their second favorite entry and a single miniature they liked best, although there were no prizes for the best miniature, this voting was just for fun. No participant was allowed to vote for himself.
While waiting my boyfriend and I played a little killteam game with two others, one player was so kind to lend us dice, a rulebook and armies as we were not prepared for playing that day. I got some chaos space marines and I have to admit I liked that army.
At around 5 to 6 pm was the winner announcement. It started with the unimportant best miniature. Every participant had a least one of his miniatures voted and the winning miniature was a daemon prince of Nurgle owned by Death Guard player. None of my miniatures got voted twice, but I had the most votes altogether.
After that the real winners (the ones that got prices) were announced. The first place and so the gold medal were won by the Death Guard player. Not a big surprise as his display board was extremely good with a rusty industrial setting. The Orks got second, they had a massive display board with a Ork stompa in a desert like terrain. To my big surprise I got third, although the fourth place (the Custodes on a flat grass themed board) was very close.
For the curious ones:
If you want to check out the other boards (and medals), here is a link to the facebook post made by the warhammer store Augsburg, were this competition took place. It includes 12 photos, one of them showing the beautiful painted snail of the Nurgle player. It nearly got my vote for the best painted miniature, but in the end I decided to give it to a converted Plague Drone (or Blight Drone?) from the Death Guard player.
I want to end with some impressions of my display board:
Greetings,
~ Tami
