Israeli - Palestinian War

We are hearing about the war between this two countries every day over the media but do you really know what is happening in region of Palestine? We are hearing every day that somebody die there but situation is much different than you think.

Let's go back in history…I will explain to you how it came to this war.

From ancient times, in the first century, the Jews were defeated by the Romans. After that they were in exile and they lost their homeland. After several centuries they lost their sense of homeland.

In 1880, they represented 5 percent of the total population in Palestine. In 18 century, Jews created Zionist movement led by Theodore Herzl.

This movement was committed to the return of Jews to the historic homeland. After that, Jews began to settle in a larger number in Palestine but in 1914 they represented 9 percent of the total population.

In 1917 a Balfour declaration was made. That declaration meant that Britain army will help Jews to settle on the land of Palestine and the main characters of this declaration were Jewish banker Rotschild and Britain prime minister Arthur Balfour.

During the World War II, the Jews massively settled in Palestine and in 1947 they already represented 30 percent of the whole population but only 6 percent of the land in Palestine.

Same year, United Nations tried to create a plan in which Jews would have 55 percent of the land and Arabs only 45 percent. Of course, Arabs refused that plan.

Year after that, Jews created the state of Israel and the capital city became Tel – Aviv which is still the capital although many people think that Jerusalem is the capital city. The day after this, seven Arabs countries announced war to Israel. Israel won this war and they even increased the territory. Afterwards, more than 700.000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes.

Second war between Israel and the Arabs was in 1956. It began because the Egyptians nationalized the Suez Canal. Israel also won that war but with huge help from France and Britain.

The third war began in 1967 and lasted only six days. Israel destroyed the Arab army quickly and they won the large territory of Palestine again. At that time, Israel was four times bigger than it was predicted by the United States in 1947.

The last war was in 1973, but after this war, the territory stayed pretty much the same. In 1988, Palestine declared independence within the borders after the war in 1967. Till now, Palestine was recognized by about 140 countries. Between this two states, the deal was signed in 1993 in which Israel recognized the Palestinian army and Palestine accept country of Israel.

After these events, Palestinians started to make riots against the Israeli authorities. The riots in the beginning were not dangerous but in this century there are more and more suicide bombers who attack Israel buses and cities.

Today's two main political organizations in Palestine are Fatah (which controls region West Coast) and Hamas (which controls Gaza strip). Gaza strip is a big problem today because Palestinian army send many missiles and projectiles from there to Israel.

In the war between these two countries, over 100.000 people were killed and obviously the war is not going to stop yet. A major problem for Israel is the lack of potable water and because of that, they want to conquer the rest of Palestine, especially region West Bank in which is river Jordan.

Also, these two countries have big problems around city of Jerusalem. Both of them want that city for themselves and both of them think that they need to have control over that city because of historical facts.

I think that situation in Palestine is chaotic. My opinion is that Israel cannot do things like this, they cannot come to some country and conquer territory of that country. They maybe have history on that territory but that is not enough for creating country like this. Many countries can use similiar tactics and also conquer some countries just because they were on that territory in the history.
