How the White House Hijacked the Ability to Declare War

in #war7 years ago

It's obvious that Americans have lost their Constitutional beliefs, otherwise we would have already been up in arms. Although the constitutional arguments should still be made.Ever since the Korean War, Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution, which says that the president is commander and chief of the Army and Navy of the United States. This is thought to mean that the president essentially operates at his own discretion, so if he wants to send a little group to Africa he will. What this section really means, is once war has been declared the president is commander and chief. It seems today that the president is in full control of foreign affairs, but really he was only given two powers he is commander-in-chief of the armed forces, and he has the power to receive ambassadors. The founders came from a monarchy, so they new how damaging it was that the king could just send soldiers to fight at will without the peoples opinion. The congress was the branch able to declare war, this is because congress is the people. This is why voting for someone to represent you is more important then voting for the president. I see us going down the path of advocating for a dictator, maybe not a full dictator of our lives, but pretty close. We are starting to be tricked into thinking the president is the most important, when he has or should have very little power. (In conformity with this understanding, George Washington’s operations on his own authority against the Indians were confined to defensive measures, conscious as he was that the approval of Congress would be necessary for anything further. "The Constitution vests the power of declaring war with Congress," he said, "therefore no offensive expedition of importance can be undertaken until after they have deliberated upon the subject, and authorized such a measure.") I kinda want to talk about "greedy corporations" people say its corporations sending us to war. Well if to declare war it needs to be approved by congress, then this means we the people are sending ourselves to war. Now this article is how the president has been sending us to war, but we allow it!!!!! Why were we not calling our senators, asking if they voted to declare war. If not then why are they not speaking out. If they don't speak out the vote for someone who is, if there is no one then run yourself, I know I am going to. Well thanks for reading guys and gals, please upvote, follow, and check out the next post!

Actually, George Washington inadvertantly started the French & Indian War when he and his men opened fire on a group of Indians. Only Congress can DECLARE war, but the Commander in Chief can dispatch them and the War Powers Act during Vietnam gave the president vastly expanded powers. We haven't been in a declared war since WWII... If you notice they're usually called "police actions" or "operation this, or that" Vietnam wasn't a "war" although it's called one... Officially it was an action.

Its stupid that the people just allow this BS

What can they do? You need to watch this...
