Waikerie South Australia - Wheat Silo Massive Scale Art Work
Driving through the River lands of South Australia to visit family for Xmas I came across this Gem and felt the need to immediately share it right away with my Steemian friends of course.
There are two silo's here in Waikerie which is normal for these smaller country towns, the larger ones often have many more.
I think it's a fantastic way to use the unused space. On further investigation a number of animals have been painted right around - the lobster (yabbie) looks pretty cool too I reakon.
We have allot of wheat Silo's in numerous country towns in South Australia, typically they are boring white, faded falling down looking things and nothing much to look at - but not in this case! lets hope it spreads to many more Silo's all over the state (this would be very cool)
Talking to one of the local towns folk, it was only just finished 2 weeks ago.
I hope you enjoyed the interesting art work; South Australia has art pieces turning up in the craziest places - love it! hats off to the artists - unfortunately again I can't name them in this case, but feel the need to share their work
Have fun exploring.
Cheers
Stone the flamin' crows that looks real. Thought it was ol' mate for a minute.
Dammit, Nigel. You got me missing home, now.
Haha just a reminder not to get too frisky with those foreign bird rustle
No such thing as too frisky with these foreign birds, mate :)
Keep it decent rustle! hehe
Used to go past Wakerie quite a lot when I was younger, as we lived in Renmark.
Really miss the Riverland, have not been up there in about 10 years, some of my best memories are from growing up there
Cool! Renmark is very nice - plenty going on the river it seems, love kayaking on the Murray and saw a few people out. Gets pretty hot though.
Yeah there is something about the river :)
Where abouts you going?
Was on way to Mildura (scenic route)

Looks like these are becoming quite the trend. I've seen a few different decorated silo pictures going up on social media. There must be some pretty amazing talent out there, especially to do it on this scale. It kind of harkens back to the days when they painted the chapels

I suspect the difficulty level is the same, just the time it takes is allot more to paint these things. Be great to hear from one of the artists about the challenges. I'll look out for more now
